You won't likely kill the primer. But having a hole in the case will sure reduce the pressure level potentials.

If you successfully drill a hole in the case I wonder if one of these old style dent pullers would help. It has a screw attachment that could be slowly screwed into the case then backed out with the puller, gently with love and care.

If there are any inventors out there, you could take one of these and fabricate an end like an extractor claw that grabs both sides or three sides of the case. Shrink it down to a third of the size with maybe a 1lb puller.

A live round stuck in the chamber with some other materials (cleaning rods) stuck in the barrel-a problem that few have probably dealt with. It will be interesting to see the solution. This is how us newbies learn and this is why I enjoy m4carbine. Go slow with the fix and please document all procedures and please be safe.

This sounds like it could work, I would try this before drilling anything.

I'll second that! I scavenge as much info as I can from these threads. Safe solutions to difficult problems like these can save time, money, lives, who knows what else. Equally as big a let down when no final solutions are posted though.

However, it's also a bomb waiting to be detonated. It must be resolved properly to make it safe.

I don't think danger is a reason most on this forum would halt such a project. In fact, I think most would like to tackle this problem because of the challenge it poses. Even I would love to solve this problem. I wonder how that primer would respond to liquid nitrogen?
