    Any updates on this matter?

If you have a local dermatologist--you may be able to score some liquid nitrogen, if he/she was gun friendly.

I've used WD-40 to kill live rounds--but I saturated them daily for a week & let them sit for 2 weeks. These were US-made handgun rounds, not foreign military ammo.

I am planning on working on it today or tomorrow. Construction around here has disrupted things.

I have had some success in the past removing stuck rounds using a hair dryer, dry ice and a dental pick.
    It is time consuming.
Use hair dryer on barrel, dry ice on cartridge head and pry GENTLY with the dental pick.
However if they have managed to mushroom the GI cleaning rod the barrel may be unsalvageable.
This soldier should not be allowed North of the Light Line.

How quickly will copper solvent corrode brass? How much time do you have?

Update! I ground the case rim down in order to drill into the case. It is rather tight in there and the bit keeps slipping. I am not willing to poke around the primer with something sharp. I spoke to the reloader of the ammo and he is going to try and drill into the case to empty the powder and kill the primer. It is not by barrel, it was not my ammo and it is really not my problem, but it is my skin. I will let him deal with the primer and when he is finished with that I will proceed if he still needs my help. Either way I will keep everyone updated on the progress and results. Stay tuned.

I would not risk my eyes or my life drilling any primer, and I would not bet my eyesight on WD40 or anything else deadening the primer. If it gets in there I reckon it will eventually, but I've done that and had primers fire after two hours of direct WD40 soak.

I would not drill the case either. If you have reduced the rim, my case puller might not do it.

A barrel full of grease and compressed air was suggested-- even 100 PSI in a .22 caliber barrel is about 5 pounds of push-- not gonna do it (logical thought though). A barrel full of grease and a 1/2-28 threaded cap, or a threaded cap with a rod down the barrel-- I think these present the same risk as pounding. Telescope the bullet enough by pounding and I totally believe there is a risk of firing the primer. Would doing it slowly with a threaded cap reduce the risk? I would think so. Would I risk everything to confirm this? Nope.

Ned, There is still quite a bit of rim as I only reduced a small portion to get a bit to the case itself. What does your case puller look like? Maybe I can fashion something similar.

Once I got over the eye-blinking level of maroonish advice, I asked myself; has no-one ever looked through a Brownells catalog?

They make a stuck-case and loaded round puller, that acts just like a dent-puller for sheet metal work.

    Look it up.

Phone around to the gunsmiths in your area and ask them if they have that tool, and the grabber for your rim size. Take it to them, and pay them what they ask.

All those who suggested a bigger hammer, and a rod down the bore; stop it, stop it right now. People have literally died from that.

And WD-40? Pu-leeze. Sure, if you soak it for months and months, you'll get a certain percentage of primer kills, but not enough to bet my eyes on.

Some times I'm embarrassed. Is this TOS?
