I had not seen that before in Brownell's, just checked it out and if it's done right it is probably the cure. Out of stock though..... if this is indeed a new product I think that might mean "not yet on the shelf".

Just Google "Brownells stuck cartridge puller".

I just checked out the one that's called the "stuck case puller", is that the right one? Would it make it past the lugs of the extension though? The collet head looks a little big, and the video shows a bolt gun.

It will be interesting to learn how much damage was caused by the steel cleaning rod wedged in the barrel once you have the round removed.

That Brownell's tool is exactly what I was looking for and all I could find were tools for split case extraction. I must have been calling it by the incorrect name. I am going to search some more.

As far as I know, it has been a regular stocking item for Brownells for decades. I bought mine back in the late 1980s, for exactly this sort of thing.

I ended up using it once or twice a year, getting stuck rounds out of rusty hunting rifles.

A quick phone call to the Brownells tech department (they are all long-suffering gunsmiths, they know how to use the gear they sell) will give you an idea of how long a wait it might be.

    Look it up.

Phone around to the gunsmiths in your area and ask them if they have that tool, and the grabber for your rim size. Take it to them, and pay them what they ask.

All those who suggested a bigger hammer, and a rod down the bore; stop it, stop it right now. People have literally died from that.

And WD-40? Pu-leeze. Sure, if you soak it for months and months, you'll get a certain percentage of primer kills, but not enough to bet my eyes on.

Some times I'm embarrassed. Is this TOS?
Some good info in this post above. P.Sweeney, is this the tool:

There is even a video showing how it works.

I called Brownell's about the stuck case puller. Their ETA for having it back in stock is mid-September. I haven't been able to find anything similar, yet. It seems like the safest solution.

Start phoning gunsmiths in your area, see who has one, and what his/her time frame is. You could have it fixed before Brownells gets the puller back in stock.

Well, maybe not fixed (depending on what the cleaning rod bufoonery did to the bore) but at least have stuck round removed.

    Simple,

Dig a hole in the ground in a safe area.

Lay the barrel level, down in the hole.

Add your favorite grill charcoal (Kingsford for me) light it from a distance and sit back and wait a few minutes for the kaboom.

Poor water in the hole to put out the coals and put the dirt you dug the hole with back in the hole.

Give a short eulogy and walk away...

Barrels are cheap, glass eye balls and caskets are not, why risk it?
