I went to college in the mountains of NC, just across the GA line, and spent some time exploring the scenery there. Spent some time in NW GA even before that, in my previous career in textiles. BEAUTIFUL country, and the Atlanta ghetto hasn't reached above Gainesville... yet...
The climate is cooler than the rest of the state, and the people friendlier (if you're a Yankee though, NEVER mention it - or how they did things in your former Yankee home state) - if I were to move to GA, that's the ONLY part I'd consider living in.
