    Juice fast

Has anybody tried or know anything about a juice fast? I saw an interesting documentary called fat, sick, and near death where this guy goes on a 60 day juice fast and has some pretty incredible results. My biggest concern is is it possible to get all the nutrients you need by just juicing. Looking forward to your thoughts. Thanks

Sugar water for 60 days.. not a good plan ihmo.

Will's articles point this out but there is no miracle answer to weight loss. Hard work > fad short cuts.

    Juice fast

I guess you never watched the documentary. It's not the kind of "juice" your thinking of. It's basically a vegan diet liquified in a blender. If nutritional requirements are achieved, what would be the difference if you consumed them ask a liquid or a solid?

Will, I'm not even going to pretend to know as much about health and nutrition as you. I do feel your link is more in regards to a life long dietary adjustment, not the OP's specific question.

Which = long term permanent weight loss.

It is actually a direct response to the OPs question if one reads the report. Think of it like so:

    Person asks:

"I'm looking for the best .22 to carry for SD. What brands do you recommend?"

Do you respond with best brands and such, or try and explain the .22 is a very poor choice for SD and attempt to educated them into best choices for surviving a violent encounter?*

    * = or in this case, heading them in the direction of what's likely to lead to permanent weight loss vs typical yo yo patterns stats show is the likely outcome of short term weight loss strategy.

    Juice fast

Well, then how would you rate someone switching to a vegan diet, just not liquifying it?
Also isn't fasting, by definition and intermittent act? Obviously a good diet goes without saying, but couldn't periodically substituting daily, weekly, or monthly meals with a liquified salad have positive results?

It really isn't a fast at this point is it? Its just pre-chewing your food with a blender.

A better choice but why? Human beings are omnivores, not vegetarians. A well constructed vegan diet is healthier than the average American diet (but that goes without saying...) but a well constructed omnivorous diet is what fits our physiology.

To offset a poor diet? If the diet is generally sound, no, I see no benefits. If the nutrition plan followed most of the time sucks, we are back to looking at the nutrition plan vs some occasional substitutions to (theoretically) make up for the poor nutrition plan.

    Juice fast

Exactly. I believe the idea behind liquifying it is that it lets you consume more. By having the ability to consume more vegetables, you intern would be taking higher levels of nutrients into your body.
