That's what I thought at first too, but nope, I took my hat off and didn't have a problem. I have the marks on my hat to prove it.

I guess I could just not wear a hat.

There are THOUSANDS of people that run this setup with no issues. My guess is that you are shooting nose to charging handle (stock all the way collapsed). If so, extend the stock.

I only have it one click in, so it's almost all the way out.

I suppose I should give it another go, seeing as how the other mount I want to try is basically non existent.

Or maybe trade the aimpoint for an RMR.

The only thing I can think of is that you have long arms and neck and are over top the ejection port.

Where on the gun was the Aimpoint mounted? Which mount did you use?

    Another thought:

The rifle may be short-stroking. Check and see where your brass is landing with normal fire (rifle not canted). If you are catching brass in the face with the rifle canted, (or, at around the 4:30-6:00 o'clock position when firing the rifle normally), then you are probably short-stroking. If so, you might try running a lighter buffer and/or a reduced-power buffer spring.

Before that you might check the entire gas system for leaks and/or obstructions (gas port, gas block, gas tube, BCG).

Also, just to cover all bases, if the barrel has been drastically cut down (say 16" to 11"), your gas port may need to be opened up a bit as well if it hasn't been already.

    Oh, and don't shoot cheap steel-case and/or light-load ammo!

I'm 5'9", and not skinny, so my arms and neck aren't very long. It's a DD offset rail, mounted on the top rail about halfway up the rail towards the FSB, and it's a carbine length.

Also, I don't find the chin weld to be an issue when I have to use it for night vision shooting, so I think a MRD mounted about my acog would work for me. The question at this point is, do I have to trade my micro in for an RMR?

Without seeing your guns live fire ejection pattern and how you shoot, it is nearly impossible to tell what you are doing.

Why don't you send me a PM and maybe we can meet and I can see what's going on. If you absolutely are going to use the ACOG and think you need a back up, your best option is either offset irons or an Aimpoint offset mount as mentioned.
