Improperly Staked Keys, Who Has Had Problems?

I'm reading up on all the good info on several threads here on key staking.

I am just curious: how many people out there have had actual problems with keys that were improperly staked?

    How serious the damage?

Any one see actual problems with Stags? Bushys?

I had a major problem. About every 4th or 5th round I would have a FTE and a double feed. Got it staked properly and smoothed out the area where the gas key meets the bolt carrier and after that mine has sang like a bird

At my dept, we have seen multiple (12-15+) Bushamsters with un-staked carried keys. All but one of them were found when they had issues during training. We're definately into triple digits on the number of carbines / rifles that we have on patrol.

I've fixed 100 or more loose carrier keys that were causing problems.

I have hundreds of Bushamsters in my armory that are not correctly staked and have seen many problems. It is definitely an issue and should NOT be ignored. My current goal is to do about 5-10 per day until they are correct.

I believe Iraqgunz meant that the issue should not be ignored

I have seen guns go down many times and have had to repair them (both at the range and in our shop). BM and Stag are two of the leaders in loose gas keys IMHO.

I think the reason why we do not see more complaints around the net is because a lot AR owners simply do not shoot enough (as it takes time for the screws to back out).

Another witness to non/poor staking causing problems here.

A guy I know had big time short stroking problems in the middle of a class due to his carrier key coming loose.

Another "me too." It's the norm with Bushmaster, and seeing one properly staked is quite an exception.

Also seen with Stags, in fewer number.

    No damage, just malfunctions.
