That comment suggests you think I don't. LOL

So if someones opinion differs from you, they are uneducated. Seems legit...

Why not start a blog then, instead of participating in a "forum". Then your readers can do whatever you say, and have no ability to "talk back"?

Forums are designed to be two way streets, maybe this type of thing isnt for you?

Sore butts don't do well here.
    Good luck.

You're catching on. It's not just that you are new here, it's what you are posting that has many here scratching/shaking their heads. You ask a lot of basic questions, butt heads with SMEs/moderators and post some ridiculous and sometimes incorrect information. Early on you were urged to read more and post less. Please do follow that advice. LOL

That is always a possibility. Uninformed or misinformed might be better descriptions that don't carry the negative connotation of "uneducated." Differing opinions are fine on this forum, but be aware that not everyone's opinion carries the same weight. There are many SMEs that would contradict what you are posting.

BTW did you notice in that same drop test that the EOTech performed horribly at holding its' zero? Also, there are a few other concerns or reasons NOT to select the MBUS for a serious rifle other than that drop test performance.

Maybe you should ask yourself the same question? Is this forum the right place/thing for you? LOL

Thanks. Words right out my mouth.
I wasn't about to type all that.

Yikes. I suppose the real question for me is if I want to go with a red dot (leave the fixed sight alone) or go with a 1-4x then, I don't want the fixed sight.

I currently have a fixed 3x and the fixed FSB isn't an issue.

    Is it your only upper?
    What is it's intended purpose?

Firstly... I assume you've tried said 4x scope with the fixed FSB? If you haven't, you definitely should, and determine if it bugs you.

It's very easy to answer this question, OP...

Are you sure it bugs you? Assuming yes, then: Are you sure you want the modification to be permanent? Assuming no, then: Install low-profile block.

Sometimes you just need what you already know clarified by someone not emotionally attached to the issue.

Fixed FSB doesn't bother me with 3X fixed power or RDS. With a 1-4 it does bother me.

I like using a RDS with magnifier but hate the magnifier hanging off when not in use.

I am tempted to leave this one be and get a different upper for a different type setup instead of doing a one size fits all approach.

To mirror what others have said.....if resale value is of no concern, chop the fsb. If you want the most securely attached fsb, chop it.

As far as advice goes, work slow. I've cut a few different front sights and the most recent looks a lot better than the first. That said, they are all functional, and covered by the handguard. If you can remove it from the barrel, it's a lot easier to work with.

Honestly the FSB in the field of view at 1X doesn't bother me; oddly it's reassuring.. Cheers
