    Another 7.5" AR question...

Before anyone flames me for this dumb idea, keep in mind that this is a range toy project. It will not be used for sd, hd, door kicking, operating, tier 1 super secret black ops or anything like that. It is just a toy. Thank you. Now, to the question...

I am about a month away from getting the stamp for a 7.5" PWS SBR. I want to put a suppressor on it and my choices are either a silencerco saker or a surefire socom556 mini.

I am getting a good deal on the surefire, so cost difference is negligible.

5.56 only for this build. No 300 blackout. Don't want to stock another caliber, so no desire for a 7.62 can.

This particular rifle has a good track record running suppressed, but PWS isn't too keen on giving can recommendations. Either way, my only two options are the saker or socom mini.

The can will live on this host forever and ever, so having the ability to move it around is not a factor.

I know neither manufacturer will warranty the can on such a short barrel. It's a gamble I am willing to take.

I'm not under any illusion that this will be pleasant to shoot with either can. I know neither option will be hearing safe, BUT... which will be quieter? Or should I say least punishing?

Anyone have any experience with either can on such a short barrel?

I submitted a post in the 7.5" thread about spending last weekend shooting a 7.5" upper most of the weekend. It was not suppressed and frankly I did not think it was that bad at all. I thought it was a blast to shoot and will be picking up one for myself.

can u post "the post" pls

i am thinking about doing the same thing for a range toy. not a working gun. on w/guns 11.5 seems to be the number all pro's i know recomend.

adco tells me to operate 100% 8.5" is as low as he feels good about, suppressed. he is the guru of cutting bbls short, so i am going with him. he is the best i have ever seen at this.

say over ITS trg-range toy. NOTHING ELSE just want to play with 1 for a while.

currious as to what u found out

    tks

    I have a POF 7.25” barrel with 6” AAC Ranger2.
Shooting indoors unsuppressed is violent to say the least.
This can knocks it down akin to a 22.
I had an end cap strike last year. I sent it back to AAC and they cut the end off, welded on a new one, repainted it, and sent it back for just $50.
At half the price of the two you listed, I couldn’t be happier.

I don't have "toys" and don't consider spending money on something to be a "toy". In addition if you disclose the fact that you had a baffle strike with an AR under 10.5" inches many manufacturers will not warranty the can.
