    6920 SOCOM at 1,000Yards.

Shawn who is a good friend of mine did some excellent shooting at 1,000Y with his 6920 SOCOM. If you have ever wondered if it was capable of such ranges, well here you go. This was done with Irons to top it off.

Good shit! I love it when people actually go out and test stuff and see first hand it works rather than poo-pooing from the sidelines.

That's impressive! I'm assuming this was done with some kind of windage/elevation adjustable rear sight?

That is good shooting. The vertical stringing is most likely due to the ammo. Cool stuff!!

If you spend much time around the guys who really, really know their craft, and who truly live this stuff, you tend to find that they are very soft-spoken and modest -- almost to the extreme. To my mind, that is a model worthy of emulation

If you read the article and look at the pics you will see that he has a 6/3 GI carry handle mounted.

I do quite a bit of shooting at "Appleseed" type ranges (400 - 500 yds) with a 14.5" carbine and irons, usually sitting and prone, and I don't find it all that difficult to make consistent hits like those in the article (depends on ammo, of course). Both the firearm and most issue ammo are very capable at those ranges (and I'm surprised so many AR owners I meet think that it is some kind of impressive feat to make hits at those ranges with a carbine -- many seem to think 100m is "long range" with a carbine, haha).

But, considering that the targets in that article are at TWICE that range....well, that is some damn fine shootin'!

He must also have some wicked vision; a man-sized target at 500 is about the same size as the front sight post on my carbine. I don't have a 1,000 yd range to check, but that torso target must be a pretty small speck to aim at.

Regardless, that's a neat writeup, thanks for sharing it, and good shooting on the part of the author.

That's some damn impressive shooting. Even more so that it's with irons and mil-spec bulk rounds.

Wow! I knew a carbine could be taken out further than a lot of people think but damn! Furthest I have taken a carbine was shooting my issued M-4 out to around 600m
