Yes, the Blackout flash hiders will make a 14.5" barrel over 16".

The 18 or 51 teeth has to do the mount on the silencer. The newer stuff has 51 teeth to engage a new ratchet-lock fast-attach mounting system. If you are not getting a silencer, you could save some money on the flash hider and buy the non-silencer version.

Can the Blackout be used without a suppressor? Don't own one.

Yeah either one works on an non-suppressed weapon.

It just may help to have an extra hider (mount version) on a non SBR weapon for the greatest versatility for the can.

The M4 2000 Mod 8? can from AAC comes with the threaded 51 tooth hider on the right.

But if you don't plan on ever adding a suppressor, go with the non-mount version as it is cheaper and has a shorter OAL. (obviously negligible)

Could you be so kind as to shed some light on the manufacturer of this fine apparatus?

It is actually a compensator made by primary weapons systems. I first really took notice in them when Rob (GotM4) started using one on an 11.5 inch SBR of his own.

He loved his and I really respect his opinion. I had the G5 in the process of being transferred from dealer to dealer when I first heard PWS was going to make one with the G5 lugs.

Blackout flash hiders are currently in stock and ready to ship. We have models for silencers and standard non-silencer versions.
