Armorers- Here's One For Ya, (Bbl Issue)

-Bbl Recently Purchased: Kotonics KT68 16" LW (LightWeight) Profile Bbl. Chrome Lined, M4 Feedramps.

Problem: Upon Arrival of bbl to my house, immediate foreign piece of "debris" noticed down the bore. Upon further inspection, this mysterious "debris", was actually a metal BURR, located on the backside of the gas port hole, drilled directly under where the F marked FSB will be mounted.
This gas port hole "BURR", located on the backside (in the bore of bbl), cannot be removed with patches (it just slowly tears/shreds them), and it even wears down a nylon bristle bore brush rapidly too.

SO, is this BURR, something that is normal, and always has to be removed when a gas port hole is drilled? I have a little machining experience, so I know that burrs always result when holes are drilled, so I'm wondering if this burr can be removed with a NOGA (or other brand) hand carbide deburring tool? They actually make a hand deburring tool, which is shaped for removal of burred edges located on the BACKSIDES of holes that are down in bores, or other hard to reach areas.
OR, is this burr going to be more like something that should have been caught and removed EARLIER during the bbl making process, (like BEFORE the chrome lining was applied?)
Can this burr be removed NOW with zero negative affect to the rifling and accuracy, OR is it too late, and this bbl will never be/shoot the same?
Damn. I have just had setback after setback on this build. It sure is going to be nice when it's done though! The good thing is that I know Tim at Kotonics will help me, and make this right. I will be calling him tomorrow for sure.
Thanks for any help guys. I just wanted to get some knowledge about this type of problem, before I call Kotonics tomorrow.
Other than this issue, the bbl sure looks nice, and has an excellent finish on it.
    Any advice, thoughts, info appreciated.

it's normal - usually you can break it off with a cleaning rod before shooting it if you choose.

REALLY? Wow, I would have never guessed it. I cannot believe, that of all the places to have a burr on a carbine, that this is the one place the bbl maker did not take the time to remove the burr with a hand held NOGA deburring tool?
I mean, I know it's a hard to reach area, but I would think this is one heck of a risk you take, when you leave obstructions in a bbl?
I know it probably wouldn't ever cause injury or damage to the bbl, but I guess I've always thought ANY bbl obstruction is to be treated like "danger".
Does this burred edge frequently get sent out on other high quality bbls from big name bbl makers?
I've just never seen anything like this before, and I was honestly surprised when you said it is "normal" to be sent out to a customer like this, WITHOUT ever having been deburred?
Not to question you. I'm just surprised. Thanks for your help kind sir.

maybe i should have said that it's "not uncommon" instead of "normal", as it's been brought up/discussed before (so don't feel you're alone ). consensus seemed to be that it wasn't an issue - but i hope some more knowlegeable folk will chime in to confirm that (or not).

burrs remove themselves the first time you drop the hammer on a live round.

    dont worry about it.

Never seen anything like that from Colt. Thats all I have to go on, Complete M4's, complete Upper Receiver Assy's and the occasional barrel assy that I get in as spares.

Someone in QC didnt get enough coffee prior to starting inspections
Life is too short to deal with Blonde women, or carbine barrels over 10.5 inches

Yeah, I spoke with Tim at Kotonics today, and he confirmed the same. It's apparently normal for a Kotonics (and some other brands, including a Noveske or two that he has seen himself), to have this "burr" on the inside of the gas port hole.
I just cannot believe that they would let that go. I guess it's the ex-machinist within me coming out (well, sort of, I use the term "machinist" lightly).
I'm used to hanging around guys who would never let any machined item out the door with a burred edge hole in it. I would have thought it to be super bad juju to leave a burr edge inside a firearm bbl, but at the same time I realize it probably would never hurt anything.
I will just blast it out and be done with it. Thanks for the info guys.

I've seen burrs mostly on non-chrome lined barrels. In 1988 I had a really bad one on a stainless barrel I owned and had the RTE shop (now called PWS) at Quantico. They said to just shoot it. 1K rounds later it was almost all the way gone.

Whoa? 1K rds later it was STILL present somewhat? That's almost unbelievable. Tim (and many others) have stated that after one shot, my bbl should be totally clear, and it's apparently normal to experience this.
