    9MM Brass Deflector Removal

Has anyone removed the brass/gas deflector and replaced it with a full length dust cover? Does the brass hit the upper on ejection?

I pulled mine off completely and left it "blank" and don't seem to be having any issues with it.

The deflector is really only needed if you are a lefty.

I have no problems running with a slick sided upper.

I think it looks like an after thought, a cheap after market add on. I just ordered a full lenght dust cover from Brownells. I'll post a couple of pictures after I get it installed.

I got the full length dust cover from Brownells today. Took less than 2 minutes to replace. I think it looks much better now.

Now I waiting on the Magpul stock and trigger guard.

I went with the full-length port door on my XM177-inspired carbine for mainly cosmetic reasons. It works fine for me.

I'm a lefty and ran mine with no door or deflector.
    No problems whatsoever.

With the right subsonic loads, my brass barely makes it out at all! Definitely won't hit me in the face!
