That's tough for them, but they waited until now to confront the issue? Come on, the evidence is still being sifted through in DC, while the OC thing was a while back, and NOW is when it's an issue? If anyone is to blind to see the real impetus for this statement of policy, I pity their blindness.

As more open carry people make a spectical of themselves more and more business will do this.

Sorry, I can't support someone that chooses to ignore my rights. I've never OC'd in a Starbucks. CC'd plenty. Won't be doing either anymore. If I can't stand for my principles, then how dare I stand at all?
Do you want to know how this imaginary situation got to this point? Like this...

Customer: "Do you support free speech?"
Barista: "We support local laws on free speech."
Customer: *uninterrupted stream of obscenities and racial epithets*
Manager: "I need to call corporate, these people exercising their rights are chasing away my customers who are just here for the coffee."

We were winning. Corporate policy was on our side. If Starbucks Appreciation Day had been triple the usual crowd of OC'ers and CCW'ers just packing sidearms in holsters like normal, we would still be winning. Instead, some people chose to use the company's property to shove their rights in people's faces. Now the company is choosing to exercise their property rights to maintain their desired business atmosphere.

I will remain faithful to Starbucks. They ignored it as long as they could. Throwing a hissy fit over this is childish. Plus their coffee is much better than those pretentious commies over at Peets.

I think he just doesn't want open carry. So just carry concealed if you go to Starbucks.

I think attracting attention to yourself while carrying a weapon out in public is unwise.

After a little back and forth I still went this morning. They aren't banning guns. Really just asking people not to be dipshits.

I am pro OC but not in a look at me way. This was just their way of saying please don't cause a scene in our stores with your guns. I'm ok with that until they outright ban them.

I figured this would happen. They sell coffee and have no desire to be involved in any of the many polarizing political arguments. That's smart business really for a company their size. We had the battle won by having then default to local laws and should have left well enough alone right there. Hosting Appreciation Days simply turned their businesses into a battlefield in a war they have no vested interest in. Add the dipshits like those OC'ing rifles into the stores and there was no choice but for this to happen.

As I read the article it sounds more like the open carry was the problem rather than concealed carry. I don't expect to see their businesses posted but we shall see.
