My point was should I modify the 6920 or leave it stock.

As far as why cut anything, here are the instructions from Midwest Industries the FF rail mfg-

"Using a dremel tool, split the aluminum delta ringby cutting from stock to muzzle end. Only cut cut the aluminum delta ring, do not cut the steel barrel nut."

So I guess there are a lot of 'experts' on this forum that know a lot more than the company that made the rail. It must be great to be so smart.
Relax my man, cutting the ring is the fastest way for the inexperienced gunsmith to install MI rail. Some like to keep the delta ring in one piece to use again or to return the firearm to stock form again. The so-called experts on this site that you refer to can indeed offer you a lot of free friendly advice unless you continue to burn the bridge that you are trying to set a blaze...

Always ready to take 'free friendly advise' but when someone says 'you should go to another forum' it doesn't seem so friendly- I don't know- maybe I'm just too sensitive....

For the record, tons of members have cut delta rings. Your low post count draws people to make comments like that. Enjoy your rifle.

I'd say so. All I saw when I reread every ones posts. Was exactly the information you asked for. Some even went into more detail incase you did not want to do any cutting.

My advice though, is its an ar15. In 20 years it will have little more value than it does now. Look at the ar15 available from 20 years ago. They are selling for pretty much the exact same price as one made yesterday

I do- It's not a safe queen. I shoot all three of my M4's- the 6920, my build, and a CMMG 22LR. I enjoy shooting them all.

Deep breath, do some research and figure out what mods may be pertinent to you style of shooting. Having a KAC rail is not a bad thing.

Shoot the gun, shoot the hell out of it and figure out if you want to modify it. If you want a safe queen then move on to another forum.
    This is friendly?

Anyway, time to wrap this thread up. Got some good advise and got some flames- about what you'd expect from any forum. I've decided not to FF the 6920. I'll leave it the way it is- stock except Geissle SSA-E, KAC RAS w/ foregrip, Harris bipod. Thanks.

Yes, that was also friendly advice. This forum is in no small part filled with members that use their rifles. Not just look at them. Most of the members here tend to use their carbines and use them hard. For most, a scratch or finally breaking a part is an accomplishment.

So a question such as, should I cut a 20 dollar delta ring that is easily replaced to make my rifle more appropriate for my use. Doesn't make a lot of sense, given what M4carbine was intended to be all about. Where as something like ar15.com has more users that are more worried about looks and what its worth.

Now granted both forums have members on both sides of that. But in general m4 has guys that play hard, and arf, has guys that would rather take pictures

Take a chill pill and relax, the statement wasn't all that unfriendly. No need to continue to derail the thread.

You were given a couple of ways to take the delta ring off, if you choose o go that route.

You say you already have one you modified? If you feel so inclined, then leave the 6920 stock. It's not like you can't change your mind later.
