My CMMG has the M4 profile barrel. Is a 22 powerful enough to make the barrel whip like a 5.56? I'll be shooting out to 100 yds max. Maybe I should just sell the rail.

The thing you get from free-floating the barrel is barrel isolation. Your POI will not be affected by applying pressure to the handguards. Doesn't have anything to do with whip or recoil. Therefor, a .22LR can benefit from a free-floated barrel... but depending on your setup and application, not necessarily that much. If you're looking for something to do with the MI handguard, there's certainly nothing wrong with putting it on a .22.
I personally would not swap out the KAC RAS unless I was changing it for a longer FF rail.
I'd leave it and build another one.. It's not like you can only have one.. right.. JMO..
Ain't no pockets on a shroud..
Leave it is my opinion.

I've already built the other one. Colt upper 14.5 m4 profile w/pinned flashhider, Colt bolt group, MOE Bushmaster lower, Midwest 12" FF rail, 30 mw green laser, 200 lumen light, M4 clone red dot or Weaver 2x7.
I'm not afraid to change things or make the rifle my own, just wanted advise about the 6920. Thanks for all the advise.

Dont cut the delta ring off, with a couple of tools you can take it off the proper way, or else take it to a smith and have it done. I hate when people butcher guns because the dont know or cant be bothered to do things correctly and try and half ass it.
Why in the hell are we talking about cutting things?
Deep breath, do some research and figure out what mods may be pertinent to you style of shooting. Having a KAC rail is not a bad thing.
Shoot the gun, shoot the hell out of it and figure out if you want to modify it. If you want a safe queen then move on to another forum.

lot of people seem to be missing the point of this post. I have a M4 that I built ( see post above) that has all the bells and whistles.
My point was should I modify the 6920 or leave it stock.
As far as why cut anything, here are the instructions from Midwest Industries the FF rail mfg-
"Using a dremel tool, split the aluminum delta ringby cutting from stock to muzzle end. Only cut cut the aluminum delta ring, do not cut the steel barrel nut."
So I guess there are a lot of 'experts' on this forum that know a lot more than the company that made the rail. It must be great to be so smart.
