I just read that CNN is stating that three of the terrorists are US citizens.

No dude is going to get shot in the chest at 300 yards and look down and say "What is that, a 3 MOA group?"

The police in the U.S. had better be watching this incident closely and read the after action report, paying close attention to detail. The police need to think about preparing for a response to this sort of thing before it happens. Going up against well trained and equipped individuals is a tough nut to crack for a rank and file police officer.

Don't think for a moment an incident of this type could not and would not happen here in CONUS. We all need to think about how we would react before the police arrive on scene and what to do when the police respond.

If nothing else, each of us should consider an escape and evasion plan that involves moving our family members out of the danger zone whenever we are in a public place.

    T2C:
Great post and even greater point.
I work for a municipal pd in the capitol city and I can tell you that there is no way in hell my dept or the vast majority of officers are prepared for anything remotely close to an incident like this.
There are a few of us that are bringing up situations that we need to be prepared for and it goes in one ear and out of the other. It's very frustrating.
I work 3p-11p and there are two officers on my entire shift that are "qualified" with their patrol rifles through the dept. It's a sad situation. There are a few of us that have the f'it mentality and carry our patrol rifles anyway. I'd rather be alive and wrong than dead right.

And the same can be said for probably 95%+ of the rest of the departments in the nation. Hell my local Sheriff refuses to equip his road guys with anything except pump action Remington 223s because he doesn't want to give off a bad vibe to the public. Public safety will always be what it is with respect to budgets and financing for training but 13 years after 9/11 there is absolutely no reason for anyone seeking to enter or already in such a line of work to not be of the more switched on variety when it comes to matter such as this. Even if they need to be seeking out and advancing their own personal competencies off the clock and on their own dime, imo.
