I will probably buy a Kel-Tec but I would not get a UTAS.

Kel-Tec will definitely work with you as far as CS goes plus they make improvements to their guns as time goes on. I wouldn't initially trust a KSG to defensive use until I put quite a few rounds downrange but KSG is definitely the better of the two. I am going to stick with the 870 until the Kel-Tecs come down to reasonable prices and availability, too, and that's probably going to be at least another year or so down the road (which also likely means the factory will have implemented more improvements)

The UTAS has had plenty of problems reported. No thanks.

I'm no expert, but I took my CCW course at a Holiday Inn Express

Sounds like he already has a KSG. While I've also heard mixed reports about it, it appears they're improving and willing to help the customer. Most consistent problem seems to be short-stroking, which can be reduced with a foregrip (better ergonomics on the motion).

Conversely, I've seen exactly 1 person say his UTAS was good. Now, that may be sample size related, but it does seem harder to find a good UTAS than KSG.

They both seem like toys as the Remington and Mossberg have been already battle proven. [Comparing pumps].

I'm kind of surprised there aren't more factory bullpup options. There's some conversions for the 500 and 870, but the only factory guns are these "be all, end all" multi-tube contraptions.

Be awesome to just have a reliable, short, 7+1 option in a bullpup.
