Best 9mm Pistol Upper

Hey There,

I have a double diamond glock lower receiver (bought as a pistol) that I am finally getting around to working on. I have the glock bolt, buffer tubes... I am looking for an upper. Ideally 5 or 7 inch barrel, 1/2x28. Who makes the best 9mm AR uppers? My plan is to use an SB15 brace, and a SWR Octane 9 HD can. IF I have to, I can get a different piece for the can to accommodate a different thread pitch.
Want the barrel short to keep the 147s subsonic.

If I need to build it myself, I can, but ideally I'd like to buy it complete.

I'm not sure about "best" but I used the slickside 9mm upper from RRA. I also went with a 5" barrel, although you can go with the 7 and still remain subsonic with most ammo running around 950 fps. Even a 16" barrel with 9mm will only get you 200 more fps. So that will barely put you into the supersonic range.
I just built my own 9 pistol (until I get my form 1 back), using DDLES small frame glock lower and RRA upper. Feel free to PM me and I'll help as much as I can.

RRA is ok. I own one in SBR form with the RRA 9mm lower and it's a shooter but I'm not sold on the modified Uzi mags or even Cproducts... Wish it took Glock mags.

My YMH 9MM upper has been flawless, granted only 500 RDS through it thus far, with my DDLES Colt Pattern lower & Heavy Buffers 9MM-Q buffer.

I think YHM are solid too. There is a guy at the range that had one when I was shooting mine and he didn't have one malfunction. I didn't either until I put in a crappy mag I was trying to see work. I hate the mags for these... Again I wish my 9mm lower took Glock mags.

Do these 9mm DDLES lowers require a specific 9mm upper or can we use any upper? I noticed they use a Vltor MUR so...???
Sure wish the DDLES guys would post more info regarding what works etc.. on their website and we wouldnt have to rely on emails that dont get answered....

You can use any upper, you'll just have a forward assist thats worthless.
I actually got a chance to fire my build for the first time this past weekend and had a bunch of FTE issues. I've sent an email to DDLES to inquire about that as well.......although I've found out more info on the net in the past two days.

I have a YHM upper and lower and as long as I use Metalform mags all is well.
