    Not a good day shooting

Took her out shooting today. Fired three shots then click. Took it apart and the buffer retainer and spring were sitting in the trigger assembly. It's a bushmaster carbon-15. Bushmaster is sending new parts for free.

That's good that they're taking care of you, but after it gets fixed if I were you I'd distance myself as far as possible from that rifle.

I know no one on here likes them but it was a gift from my wife.

    Sounds like grounds for divorce.

Nah, I'm just giving you a hard time. At least they're sending out some parts for you. Good luck & welcome to the forum.

here's a pic of the hole. I don't see nothing wrong with it.

The buffer spring extension/tube should be screwed in to the point where it overlaps the hole the buffer retainer pin sits (but not completely over it) so at to keep it from flying out as is what happened to you.

Looks to me like the chunk of the end of your buffer extension that was doing so broke off.

When the retaining pin and spring arrive, give the receiver extension another turn on installation. Then see this thread for others things you can do to get the most out of your rifle.

What parts are they sending you? Can't you just reinstall the original parts, thread your RE in properly & call it fixed?
