    PSA lower and BCM upper?

Now that I got my wifes Palmetto State Armory M4 built it is time to get myself another rifle.

The build I am looking at:

Lower - PSA lower with basic trigger. PSA had these on sale last weekend for $99. That included a blemished lower with lower parts kit.

Upper - BCM 14.5 inch barrel, mid length gas system with BCM BCG.

Here is the upper I am looking at - http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/BCM-B...mid-14-bfh.htm

What would be a good flash hider to have on the upper? I am consider the BCM comp mod 1.

As for the stocks I am going magpul.

    Pistol grip - ergogrip

Is there a reason why I should not go with a PSA lower?

Main use for the rifle is property protection. My wife and I live in a rural area and we have livestock. I want something that can be used to prevent coyotes and bobcats from getting my animals. I would like something that is compact to carry on an ATV, or in my truck.

I have no experience with the PSA lower but I do know they are pretty popular. As for the upper I think you're right on the money. I have a BCM 14.5 with the mod 1 comp and it shoots great. The mod 1 keeps the rifle on target very well, even under rapid firing conditions. Post pics when you're done.

No worries with PSA. Unless you are in a hurry to get it. Their shipping isn't the fastest, more like the slowest. But, quality is good. I recently put a BCM upper on a Spikes lower and love it!

No experience w/ PSA lower, but I have used their lower part kits. The trigger is a little soft, but otherwise it worked well. I've only shot a few other lowers, they had crisper trigger breaks.

I have a PSA lower on a 14.5" BCM pinned carbine upper and the fit is perfect and they work great together.

I have put together two rifles using a PSA lower. They were matched with an LMT upper and a BCM upper and both were a nice tight fit. I have heard of people having issues with the pin holes being undersized but i have not had that issue, mine were good to go and wouldnt hesitate to use another.

My wifes rifle, which is a PSA lower with their premium upper has a microscopic amount of play between them. Take the upper in one hand, lower in the other hand, twist, and you can feel the parts give just maybe a few thousands of an inch. She does not even notice the play.

She has only shot a few hundred rounds through it. But so far there have been no issues and no malfunctions.

Play between the upper and lower means nothing and it has been discussed plenty of times.

Yep, I have read a bunch of threads about play not being an issue.

The main reasons why I want to go with a BCM upper is because to of the quality, and because PSA stays sold out of the 14.7 inch mid length systems.

BCM has had the uppers in stock that I want for sometime now, while PSA is hit and miss on availability.

With my wifes PSA rifle having a microscopic amount of play, I was not sure if BCM was going to have more or less?

I ask mainly for cosmetic reasons and not functional reasons. There are people out there who complain about every little thing, even if it does not matter what they are complaining about. So I would like the rifle to have a tight fit so someone does not pick it up, handle it, then point out there is play. Then the discussion starts about if play affects reliability.
