Its common to call the hand guard a "stock" in some circles---a stock being everything from the butt stock to the tip of the forearm--like on a shotgun or a bolt-action rifle. He intends to mount the rails to the Magpul hand guard.

Yep. Same thing, just different terminology.

I am 99.99% certain that only applies to a one piece type stock like an M14 or similar where the barrel and action drop into stock itself.

In 27 years of working with the AR15 I have never heard anyone call the handguards a stock.

Agreed but some people call stuff the wrong name. It happens. I figure out what he meant. My dad calls shotgun forearms stocks. "Forestock and buttstock".

Resale value aside, between a PSA/BCM, or a colt le6920, which one is going to give me the best overall quality?

I am looking at making this purchase in January.

As stated before my wife and I live in a rural area, we have chickens and will expanding to either cattle or goats next year. I want something light and easy to handle when working around the farm. So no rail system.
Get the colt and go home to sip a beer on the porch. It sounds like you just need something now for use and don't need to play games pimping a build out.

Don't see what value this is 3.5 years later.
