Crime/action shows you like or are disappointed in (SPOILERS and NSFW!)

    First the bad.

    1) The Walking Dead - AMC
Season 1 and 2 had me liking the show. Rick vs. Shane and Meryl and Daryl were good story lines.

Season 3 was OK but by the end the plot had me questioning whether I'd keep watching. Rick's over-dramatic acting and the boring plot the season ended in. His psycho wife and kid they focused too much attention on. I swore I wasn't going to watch season 4 and haven't.

    2) Sons of Anarchy - FX
I'm gradually growing to not like it. I can usually get past the over-dramatic mom and plot holes. The Jax/Opie/Clay storyline was the best so far. I don't know if it's the plot or the writers now and they've also worked in a school shooting
Dudes' asses everywhere but no lady eye candy so far. Dudes hugging and cheek kissing like they're mobsters or something. The new bikes look ridiculous.

    3) The Bridge - FX
I had hoped this show would be at least decent but I'm losing interest quickly. The lead female detective has no personality (by design) but is just downright unlikeable and not relatable. The generic political slant is a turn off. This quote probably sums it up best IMO.

Robert Bianco from USA Today thought there was "rich ground to explore in the problems Mexico faces and the responsibility we may bear for some of them", adding "but the show's clumsy attempt to boil that down to a catchphrase is offensive and silly, particularly as it has no real connection to the story being told."

    Glad I've watched:

    1) Breaking Bad - AMC
This is a no brainer People that liked it know. If you watched a significant number of episodes and didn't like it you're dead to me

    2) Justified - FX
Hands down the best show on FX. Surprisingly solid plots IMO to be so complicated and good acting as well.

    3) The Killing - AMC
Season 1 and 2 were political but not slanted that badly. Season 3 was great. I can't think of a more likeable (towards the end) bad guy than Ray. It looks like there won't be a Season 4

    4) Longmire - A&E
A decent show to watch if nothing much else is on. Some episodes are better than others.

    ----------------------

With two of my favorite shows being canceled I don't have high hopes so far. I'm interested to see if Mob City will be worth watching.

I'm hearing a lot of good things about Homeland so I may have to subscribe to Showtime.

"If force can take away liberty, force is necessary to preserve it. It is the hatred of violence alongside the willingness to use violence that preserves liberty. In order for us to live as free men, we have to hate the violence that takes away liberty, yet at the same time, we must embrace the violence that preserves it. That is the paradox our founders appreciated and made work for over 200 years."

Ray Donovan - Pretty decent new show. Not like anything before.

Eastbound and Down - Was positive I'd hate it from the previews, watched one episode and I'm hooked. Best new comedy in years.

Boardwalk Empire - Decent show with decent production values, still trying to give a shit. Sometimes it's cool, sometimes it get's boring. The T&A keeps me interested.

Strike Back - The new DEA chick is seriously making it kinda suck, but it's still one of the best "gun shows" I've ever seen.

Walking Dead- Agree with the comments above. Too much time on crap I don't care about. Yes we get that people will suffer serious mental damage in a zombie environment. I'm far more interested in the back story. So much potential with the CDC episodes and all we got was "everybody is infected."
It's hard to be a ACLU hating, philosophically Libertarian, socially liberal, fiscally conservative, scientifically grounded, agnostic, porn admiring gun owner who believes in self determination.

    Chuck, we miss ya man.

I absolutely could not miss this show when it first started. I've always wanted to be a small town sheriff and the show had me hooked.

Having said that, try as I might there are elements I dislike more and more all the time. I don't like Branch or Vicki. I think the subplot of who murdered his wife's killer is totally unnecessary. They would have been better off playing the guy as a straight-laced sheriff.

I just don't know how much longer I'll stick with it.

    Now my list:

    The bad:

    1) Burn Notice

I could buy this as a one-time movie or mini-series. Trouble is the guy goes around blowing shit up so much that his former bosses would probably have him killed just to quiet things down and stop him from eventually spilling all his secrets. After season 3 I decided the show was as contrived as any ho-hum action show you can name.

    2) Longmire

    See my gripes above.

    3 ) The Walking Dead

Lasted about four episodes and couldn't take it.

    4) Falling Skies

Should have viewed it like The Walking Dead. I've watched every season so far, only to start feeling it's going to have a worse-than-hokey ending.

    The Good

    1) Longmire

See what I like about it above

    2) Hell on Wheels

I like what I see so far. I'm sure it will disappoint me eventually.

    3) Falling Skies

Yes, like Longmire, it's in both categories. I just can't totally hate a show where everyone has an AK, AR, SIG556, M14, or some other cool MSR. At least it's marginally more realistic than The Walking Dead.

    The good:

1 - Justified. This is easily the most under appreciated show on TV right now. I was truly surprised by how much I like that show. Timothy Olyphant plays the lead role so very well, and I honestly wish he was in more TV right now.

2 - The Walking Dead. I guess I haven't gotten bored with it yet. I can agree, there were moments.

3 - Homeland. I think terrorism qualifies as crime... The show is simply awesome.

    Only real bad...

Breaking Bad. I just have not been able to connect with any character and I sat through two seasons trying. Oh well.

Yup. The CDC episodes were interesting but I guess too much "science and stuff" for the general public.

I was hoping that angle would keep a good recurring subplot going on but it's getting boring.

I'll admit I had trouble getting into BB from just a couple of episodes in the middle of a season. I guess it's an acquired taste.
Season 2, 3 and 4 are some of the best TV I've seen.

Reposting what I posted in the Homeland thread:

I, too, just finished watching the Season 2 (Homeland) DVD's last week and am looking forward to the next season on DVD's when they come out, which should be sometime in September 2014.

I started watching Season 3 of Walking Dead this week, but just couldn't get into it. I liked Season 1 a lot, and mostly liked Season 2, but just how many different ways can you bash, stick or shoot a zombie in the head? I am done with it as I don't see enough plot depth.

I am still looking forward to the future DVD releases of:

    Homeland Season 3
    Justified Season 4
    The Bridge Season 1
    The Following Season 1
    The Killing Season 2
    The Newsroom Season 2

PS - Yes, the DVD's are always about a year behind the original show dates, but I prefer to watch the DVD's as I make a marathon of it and watch the whole season over 1 or 2 nights.

    The Following is fairly good.

I assume you've seen season 1 of The Killing? Season 2 is good but I'm telling you man Season 3 is totally different but in a good way.
Still a murder mystery where they keep the killer a secret until the end. A must see IMO. I can't believe sensible people would cancel such a good show.

I've never heard of half the shows mentioned here. I always liked Burn Notice just for the fun of it. Sort of like a modern day Hogans Hero's.

So far I thought "The Blacklist" looks pretty cool.

LOL. That's about the worst insult a TV show can endure (other than saying it's like Gilligan's Island).

Crime/action shows you like or are disappointed in (Spoilers! Maybe)

I watch very little TV, but I feel the need to make a few comments.

First, I agree that The Walking Dead started strong, but is really sucking right now. I'm holding on to hope that it'll return more to its roots and focus more on survival than drama.

Second, this seems like it would be right up your alley. I'm confused?

I may catch hell for it, but my son and I are really enjoying Sleepy Hollow, for now. Pretty decent story and concept so far.
