    BB/Airsoft Training Aids

Discuss among yourselves. I am considering buying a replica of my pistol in CO2 to shoot in my new, large yard.

Is the cost of 3 boxes of ammo a waste of money, (my first rifle was a BB gun and I learned it really well when I was 8 and it didn't scare the neighbors)?

Travis Haley did a video on this a while back. If you can't get out to the range, or can't afford to go to the range...blah blah blah...here's the video

Well the 9 month old is seriously affecting our ability to get to the range. We are working so that we don't have to put him in childcare which means not much free time without him in tow. So I'm looking for options.

I actually use a 1:1 scale (and weight) M4 airsoft to teach my kids (3 & 5) to shoot. We can do it in the back yard and it is much cheaper.

Also, in crappy weather, I have used it in the garage for drills.

Is it just as good as the real thing? of course not.
Is it what I have to work with right now? Yes.

I would love to take my real AR to the range to shoot. But it is not an option right now.

First, bravo my good man, bravo. You will never regret the sacrifices necessary to have your child raised by Mom & Dad & not be raised by minimum wage daycare workers. We are doing it and its worth it. Good job.

Second, my 13yo son & I worked with (and continue to) high quality air soft replicas to get him comfortable with controls and manipulation. My 9yo daughter is doing the same. They are the metal, co2 blowback type and pretty realistic in weight and function. It really works great for teaching trigger and muzzle discipline in a safe manner.

I think it's a reasonable way to keep sharp on handling skills and have a good time with the kids in the backyard. Accuracy sucks and recoil is severely reduced, but it was a worthwhile investment.

They are great for Force v. Force, same goes for simrounds. But for as much as the really good ones cost, I think its a wash financially.

So between an air soft and a BB if the costs is within 10, in favor of the Airsoft which would you go for? Both are good quality CO2.

    Airsoft!
You can shoot each other with it, and it's a little less likely to break anything breakable (like a window) if you're shooting indoors.

After some other things get sorted out, I"m actually going to do what PC and TC are doing, and get an airsoft rifle and pistol to use as training aids- with winter coming and low ammo stocks, the ability to play indoors will be appreciated.

    Find the BB gun.

I use it to practice draws, first shots, shooting on the move, and shooting around the cars while in the garage. I want to get an M4 and a G19

1+ to this. Airsoft won't break stuff around the house for the most part. BB gun will.

I have a replica MP that I used for practice. The trigger pull, and accuracy SUCK, but it's good enoug at garage ranges to know when you messed up a draw stroke or sight picture. Wish someone would make a replica P30 worth a shit.
