Handguns require Next Day Air. Long guns can go by ground service.

Yep - was a revolver, so next day (ripoff) air. Will check with lgs next time ( another decade or two down the road;)

You can not use USPS if you are not a FFL holder.

If you are not a FFL license holder there are no other options for shipping firearms yourself. Many choose therefore to pay a FFL holder to ship their firearms, thus saving some money.

The FFL route is tremendously cheaper, if you have a good one.. The LGS 1/4 mile from my home tried to pull the "close to $100" trick on me.. I went back to the one I normally use (15 miles away) and it was 2/3rd less.. It shipped Monday and arrived today..

Somebody please correct me if I am wrong, and then point me to the source. Handguns are not allowed to be shipped via USPS regardless of whether or not you have an FFL.

FFL's are exempt and can ship handguns via USPS so long as it is being sent to another FFL.
