    Non-FFLs can mail long guns to a non-FFL in their own state via USPS, or to an FFL in any state.

    The OP was about a handgun between states.

    You can not use USPS to ship a handgun state-to-state unless you are a FFL holder.

    The FFL route is tremendously cheaper, if you have a good one.. The LGS 1/4 mile from my home tried to pull the "close to $100" trick on me.. I went back to the one I normally use (15 miles away) and it was 2/3rd less.. It shipped Monday and arrived today..
