Don't take this wrong, but for that $300.00 difference, I'll just buy the rifle complete, save a couple of bucks as I can, and probably buy the Aimpoint down the road.

    Thank you,
    Oak

It's still complete. You can select it from the options.
But I understand where you're coming from.
If you want the rails and it's the way you want it, then by all means get it.
But if you don't want all that rail space, then the magpul is a good option.

I sell kayaks for a living. The only SEAL stuff I'll ever do is if I fall out of one!

Be careful if you start looking at optics on eBay. There are LOTS of counterfeits out there.

Do not be spooked off by this comment. Check seller ratings, ask lots of questions and be sure to look carefully at pictures.

Again: you can get some GREAT deals on people offloading optics on eBay.

    Thanks,
I was a CO for about 11 years when I was young. I've learned to be suspicious as a matter of habit!

This could be the greatest quote I have ever seen on M4C! In regards to your new rifle, you cannot go wrong with BCM. I used a BCM Middy upper and a bolt, and BCG to finish my frankenbuild. The quality is fantastic and they have a customer for life in me. Welcome to the forum, glad to have ya.

    LOL!
Thanks for all of the help. I'm sure I'll be around asking more. And if not asking, certainly reading and learning.

I'll probably try to find the weight of the BCM, check out something like the Aimpoint H-1 or Pro, buy a sling and order the rifle.

I'd recommend re-thinking the Aimpoint H-1, or at least spend sometime shooting one. The weight at that mid-point on the rifle doesn't add much to it's swing weight, which is what you care about rather than its overall weight. The problem with the Aimpoint micros IMHO is the 20 mm tube. That smaller diameter can make acquiring the target image and red dot more difficult, sometimes requiring a little head-bobbing to get lined up. And after paying $600 for the H-1, don't forget that you still have to buy a mount for it. I would strongly recommend skipping the H-1 in favor of the Aimpoint PRO. You would be into that excellent optic for half the price of the H-1. Any benefit the H-1 has (weight) just doesn't make up the $400 price difference IMHO.

Very good info here, I am in the same boat as the OP as far as looking to get into a quality aimpoint.
