For your reference, my AA barrel above is thicker than the standard Government profile. It is a straight .700" under the handguard, instead of tapered down to .600" (IIRC) for the Gov't profile.

If you send your barrels into ADCO and don't ask for a specific diameter, their site says "Unless a specific contour is noted in the comment section the barrel will receive our standard medium weight contour", but I couldn't find what that might be anywhere on the site.
Thanks for that. Maybe I will just send them my complete Colt upper, since I would be paying that disassembly fee anyways, and have them disassemble/reassemble it. I would probably skip doing it to my AR22 though, just too expensive for the whole project of both rifles.
I would assume that my Colt 6920 barrel would be in spec... so is that .640 under the handguards and in the notch for the M203? That sounds like a pretty good profile all around, but I wouldn't mind going lighter either, maybe to the .600 you did.
Any insight or recommendations you can provide on this would be great. For the record, the rifle has a DD 12" FSP rail on it, and is fairly heavy... I would love to lighten it up.

If I had to choose a barrel profile, it would be the MSTN/Noveske profile for that Intermediate gassed 16".

After that, the older pencil FSB contoured DD units are up there for a fixed sight barrel - but yeah, anybody who pays extra for M4 profile is probably ignorant of the reasoning behind any of this - that was once me.

Ask your shooting buddies if anyone has the tools. You could probably get it done for the price of a pizza

I have a BCM pencil profile barrel and it is fantastic. I like the way they balance better than govt profile barrels as well. I see the point to it but it is not one I have to worry about so I'll get the pencil profile when I can. If only BCM made their 11.5" CHF barrels in the lighter contour...

DD makes excellent CHF LW barrels. I have theirs in 10", 14.5", and 16".

I'll be putting a suppressor on mine when the paperwork comes back and the suppressor manufacturers warranty states that it must have at least a 10.5" barrel on it or it voids the warranty. I looked hard at DD but it looks like the closest they have is a 10.3"

I am about to pull the trigger on BCM's BFH 11.5" barrel, I just wish they offered a pencil contoured version like they do in the 16".

I agree. The first clue that hat profile is all ****ed up is that it is called "Government". Dead giveaway.
