    Wes- I like it.
I have a couple DD m4 profiles I got a hell of a deal on that I am going to have Steve at Adco re-profile after the gas block as well. Can you give us a close up of the end of the barrel, specifically the taper at the end?

    ADCO did the work.

    Here you go:

A while back I owned a Bushy "pencil" barrel. The torque shoulder was almost non-existent, and I also though the standard "pencil" profile was a bit thin, so on this one I supplied ADCO with the specs I wanted. I included a clear description of what I wanted done, and even sent along a drawing of what I wanted on engineer's grid paper. The inside diameter of the M4 cut on this rifle was .640"; I didn't know how little they could lathe it down below that, so I had spec'd the new diameter as .600". I also drew a pretty substantial torque shoulder, but that's what I wanted. Damned if ADCO didn't do exactly what I specified!

    OP,

Other than esthetics, does the barrel also provide better balance?

Or, was it done just for fun?

    Thanks?

Though I will always just stick with the LW barrel. I really do not Govt'Profile or the M4 barrel.

I also like the N4 barrel, and the SOCOM.
    Thanks!

The LW barrel is what most shooters should have on their ARs.

I like the N4 too; I can see the point of having a slightly thicker barrel to deal with higher rates of fire. The SOCOM is good for that too (maybe a bit on the heavy side though), especially if a suppressor is also being used.

A 20" pencil barreled rifle weighs a resounding 6.5 lbs; it is really hard to beat that deal.
Never understood the affection for heavy barrels that made an AR weigh as much as an M14. When the ban sunsetted, I bought a Colt HBar that somehow felt different than what I remembered from the service. There was indeed a reason for that, tho' ADCO made the problem go away.

An M4 profile barrel looks like a bag of d#$ks. Never liked the profile or could figure why a civiy needed a
    grenade launcher mount.

What is the going rate to have your barrel turned down for those of you that have had it done?

For my grenade launcher, of course.
