It bears many similarities to the Noveske N4 Lite, Centurion CHF, Spike's Optimus, and the new DD LW barrel profiles. Yet, it still has its own character.

    A very rational profile, IMHO.

    Looks great!
I'd like to see a side by side pic of that in the middle with a standard barrel and a lightweight.

But, but...it's "mil-spec"! How can you even question it?

I totally agree with you on the utility of the M4 profile, I hate it.

I posted this in another thread, but DD has slightly revised their LW profile now using a .750 FSB. It is very similar to your profile but with a little taper. I think it is an awesome profile.

    here is a pic.

Could you re-post that pic of the DD barrel? I'm not seeing it.

Weird- it showed up on my phone just fine, but not on my notebook.

I have been waiting to send 2 of my barrels to get ligtened at ADCO for a while now. I have emailed a couple questions to them and they haven't responded in quite some time. I just asked again today.
hopefully I can send them in, if they ever respond.

What were your questions? They do not always respond.

well, I have two barrels that I want to send in, and I can remove the handguards, rails, etc but dont have the tools to remove and reinstall the barrels from the uppers... If i were to send in my barreled uppers, would it still cost me an additional $50 each because of this for "disassembly/reassembly"? Because that would make it not worth it for me as it almost doubles the price.
Also, one of the barrels is a dedicated .22lr barrel, and it has no front sight or gas block on the barrel. If I send it in, I wanted to know if they could take down the profile from just behind where the gas block would be, forward to the muzzle.

On another note, does anyone have experience with the work that AR15barrels.com does? his services are cheaper than ADCO, but ADCO has that known reputation and quality factor, of course.

Finally, is there a guide to naming of the different barrel profiles/diameters? I'm trying to figure out exactly how light I would like my barrels, I'm thinking .640 which is bigger than pencil, and would match the thin diameter under the handguard.

If the barrel is installed on a receiver, you have to pay the assembly/disassembly fee.

For your reference, my AA barrel above is thicker than the standard Government profile. It is a straight .700" under the handguard, instead of tapered down to .600" (IIRC) for the Gov't profile.

If you send your barrels into ADCO and don't ask for a specific diameter, their site says "Unless a specific contour is noted in the comment section the barrel will receive our standard medium weight contour", but I couldn't find what that might be anywhere on the site.
