Reality Based Training Center - Dallas area (Plano, Texas)

    Greetings everyone,

I wanted to take a moment and let everyone know of a new training option in the Dallas Texas area.

Patriot Protection has now opened their defensive tactics and firearms training center located in Plano, Texas very close to PGBT and Hwy 75.

The entire facility is housed indoors and climate controlled. 2000 sq ft classrooms and observation areas, and 8000 sq ft training shoot-house area. Ample parking is available directly in front of our facility which is concrete covered for those of you that do not enjoy the off-road experience to reach your training destination.

    Curriculum:

Offering a broad range of skill set courses from beginner fundamental pistol and rifle instruction through advanced force on force tactics, including:

    • Situational Awareness
    • Low-Light Tactics
    • Home Defense
    • Car Jacking Defense
    • CQB
    • Weapon Retention
    • Texas CHL class (coming soon)

In addition to civilian courses listed above Patriot Protection offers two formats of Law Enforcement and Military training programs:

On-site, and Off-site. (Please contact Patriot Protection for details of these courses are not posted publicly.) Each course can be counted for TCOLE hour credit.

    Training format:

All training takes place after a class room session and safety briefing in the form of Reality Based Training scenarios. Students will engage their RBT Role-players, which will increase threat response dependent upon students skill level. Advanced courses will entail students being engaged in force on force from role-players.

    Training equipment:

Patriot Protection offers an all inclusive training package. They provide ALL required training and safety gear minus any specifics that are posted per class. Personal firearms and weapons are not permitted in the facility due to safety protocols.

The weapon conversions Patriot Protection use are manufactured by Ulitmate Training Munitions.

    Non-Lethal Training Ammunition
    Features:
Live Round Lockout, preventing “live” rounds from being fired while the weapon is converted to UTM.
Realistic cyclic rates in semi-automatic and automatic weapons which match that of “live” fire.
Typical 9mm Accuracy: 50mm (2ins) extreme spread at 10m (11yds), dependent on caliber and weapon variant. Typical 5.56mm Accuracy: 75mm (3ins) extreme spread at 25m (32yds), dependent on caliber and weapon variant
Muzzle energy with an average of less than 3ft/lbs.
At 400 feet per second this round is not lethal, but will inflict a "Pain Penalty" causing the student to rethink the incorrect move they just made.

Training gear issued for each course:

    • Firearm (pistol or rifle)
    • Holster or sling
    • Magazines
    • Mag holders
    • Safety gear (eye protection or full helmet depending on course, chest, groin, arm, and hand protection. Hearing protection is not required.)

They recommend that each student come dressed appropriately in full pants, with solid belt, tucked in under shirt and well as a long sleeve over shirt (for advanced courses), and enclosed footwear. Any additional class specific requirements will be noted in course descriptions.

Please feel free to respond here with related questions about this type of training as Patriot Protection hopes to increase the knowledge and value of RBT and force on force training in the Dallas area both to our Law Enforcement and civilian communities. Stay safe!
