    Novske N4/RA 14.5"

Here's my recently competed Noveske carbine:

    Upper

    - Noveske 14.5" Midl-lenght Upper
    -- Noveske N4 14.5" Cold Hammer Forged 5.56mm Barrel
-- Forged Vltor MUR upper receiver
    --13.5" NSR
(Refinished Cerekote Foliage Green on upper & rail *by Noveske)
    - Rainier Arms Raptor Ambidextrous Charging Handle
    - Troy/Noveske FDE BUS (front and rear)
    - Magpul MVG
    - Noveske NSR QD Sockets
    - Noveske NSR FDE Rail covers
    - Noveske NSR Scout Mount
    - Surefire M300B Mini Scout Light Tan
    - Surefire SR07 Remote Switch
    - SWFA SS 1-4x Optic, T-post Reticle, Capped
    - LaRue 1.93" SPR Mount

    Lower

    - Rainer Arms Lower Receiver
(Refinished Foliage Green Cerekote by Rainer Arms)
    - Geissele SSA 2 Stage Trigger
    - Troy Ambi Mag Release
    - BAD ASS Ambi Safety Selector
    -- Hybrid Lever Left side
    -- Short Lever Right side
    - BCM Gunfighter Mod 1 Grip
    - Magpul SRT Stock
    - Noveske QD Swivel Endplate
    - VTAC MK2 Sling (note shown)

This is my second AR and its primary purpose is to serve as a back up to my BCM Training/HD carbine with a secondary role for varmint hunting. *When I started doing research for this build I came across this interview with John Noveske on his barrels and the N4 Light Recce really piqued my interest. http://www.defensereview.com/noveske...iew-part-one/. Accurate but lighter that a SS barrel, the N4 seemed perfect for my purposes. When they released of the NSR, that kind of sealed the deal for me on a Noveske upper. In order to minimize any training issues, the lower is set up identically to my BCM lower. I'm a southpaw, so I added ambidextrous controls where I could (Raptor, BAD ASS, Troy Mag Release, SR07). *

I really like the NSR. The small diameter of the rail really fits my hands well. I shoot without gloves and so far I haven’t had any issues with heat build up, although I haven’t done any mag dumps. KeyMod system pretty awesome and plan on upgrading my BCM to a similar KeyMod rail sometime in the not too distant future.

I really like the Aimpoint Micro on my BCM, but I wanted to tryout and learn how to use a mil dot scope. As a complete novice when it comes to magnified optics, I did a lot of research and ended up decided on a SWFA FFP 1-4x with the T-post. While it’s significantly heavier than a Micro, it’s still pretty quick on 1x. For me the modified German #4 reticle is easy pick up with the illumination off and, when needed, the illumination is daylight bright. I really enjoy the flexibility of the 1-4x. I went with the LaRue 1.93" SPR Mount to accommodate a more heads up shooting position.

Overall the build took me just under 10 months to complete.. So far I only have 300 rds through it. After sighting in the irons and the SWFA, most of that was shooting a few close range drills. Shooting prone (no bipod), I was able to get around 1.5-2 MOA at 100 yards. with PMC XM193. As I’m sure you can guess, I am extremely pleased with the entire set up.

How much do you want for it??

Out of curiousity, what other magnified optics did you look into?

Love the color combination. How do you like the bcm gunfighter grip? I wanted to switch my magpul moe to it but was worried about the color matching

Pretty much everything. Vortex, Trijicon, Leupold, US Optics, Burris, Nightforce. Before doing a whole lot of research, I was planning on going with a Trijicon AccuPoint 1-4x. Which is a nice scope that was more than adequate for what I need. After reading just about every variable optic review on the m4c, I though it would be fun to learn how to use a mil dot scope. I ultimately narrowed it down to the SWFA 1-4x and 1-6x. SWFA had a good deal on the 1-4x off on their Sample List, so that decided it for me.

The Mildot Master is great. I ordered one with the optic, and it is easy to use and extremely helpful.
