    Suggestions for first auto?

My sister shot skeet the other day and told me she wants to buy an auto-loading shotgun. We've gone over the pros and cons and everything but she has her mind pretty set. Her criteria: 12 gauge and around $700 if doable. I checked impactguns (my go to place for quick price checks, don't know why) for their list price 1100s and 1187s on them and they seem to have some around that price. So any decent options out there? I wasn't able to find much on here, other than a preference for the 1100. Brand isn't a major concern so long as it works and isn't too expensive, I just know of Remington.

Is this going to just be for skeet shooting or are you looking at multiple applications for it?

I think it'll be pretty much for skeet. I don't see her using it for much outside of that. She does already have a Glock 19 and a DD/BCM AR.

    I've seen 1100s for around $300-400. I would say 1100 or find a demo/used benelli m2 for around the $700 price.

Stoeger M3000 is a decent autoloader for the money. My BIL bought one for 3-gun, around $450 IIRC. They use the inertia recoil system that the Benelli M1/M2 does.

Unless they're making them better, Remington 1100's have major problems ejecting after about 3000 rounds or so...

I would offer that if you are open to used shotguns a Beretta 390 or 391 might be a good option seeing that I know many shotgun competitors that have started out with them and run them hard without many issues. You would also likely be in a situation where you could easily find chokes and other accessories for the shotgun for skeet and other competition shooting.

The Beretta outlander is one the best on the market for under 700 IMO. Mine has eaten everything from 3/4 loads to heavy waterfowl loads with no cleaning or added lube right out of the box. I have about 400 rounds through it since I got it last week. Small sample size, I know.

Because you could never trust a Franchi/FN/Beretta.
