Up men! Up! And to your posts! Let no man forget today that he is from Old Virginia! - General George Pickett
But don't allow this:

You guys are tame if series 80 safeties and magwells are all you got.
I would like to see some of the "custom" visual modifications to come out of the 70's and 80's disappear from existence.
Gimmicks like the group gripper and gas pedal grips should be wiped from memory too.
God awful compensators as well.
PREACH IT!!! I have run into a couple of these so far and they were both terrible. Both owners warned me of the "danger" of my "Cocked & Locked" 1911. Neither knew what "Condition 1" meant when I explained my love of the pistol, so I'm guessing that the concept of the proper function in a 1911 was beyond them.
I can see a use for many 1911 parts and modifications within the realm of competition, sport shooting, etc. but the one part or parts that I see no use for is the extended slide release - or better yet the ambi one that was made for a period of time
They are completely useless in my opinion
Finger groove grips.

Allen and Torx head anything on a 1911 sucks. The heads break off and strip and it's a completely unnecessary PITA to go find a tool to remove fancy junk when you shoulda been able to use a flat head and the sear spring.
I've not seen any measureable improvement with a magwell. I have seen 'em come loose and twist (more Allen head junk).
I never said G.I. sights didn't suck, but adjustables break. Always.
External extractors always suck but plastic triggers are fine. STI makes a decent one and the stock Colts ain't all that bad for the price. I run a Colt plastic MSH on a $2K custom too...
But I'm not talking about a plinking type 1911, I'm talking about something I'd carry to work.
