I would also add a bevel to a magazine well, and for those with large hands, a beavertail grip safety.

I've always wondered how those who shot the original Army tests were able to make through that many rounds without ending up losing the web of their hand.
This plus that it runs all of the time!

Not thread drift, but why are they not that popular?

Not posed directly at you, but a question for the masses.

I don't care for the extended slide release or the ambi thumb safety.

Neither one helps me pick up speed and they both seem like they are in the way when I manipulate a 1911. They tend to snag on things when I am carrying a 1911 concealed.

I can understand the CCW factor. And I'm with you on the ambi-safety.

I've got small girly hands though, so reaching up for the release makes me have to shift my grip. And I hate slingshotting the slide so it was natural for me.

    Each their own I suppose.

Hit the slide release with your support side thumb after a reload...usually faster and doesn't require either a grip shift or an extended release. This is an advantage as you can be getting the gun back on target earlier in the reload, and you haven't added a component that increases the risk of failure to lock back on empty.

Flawless, sub-moa fit and finish...all day long.
Full disclosure: I'm the editor of Calibre Magazine, which is Canada's gun magazine. In the past I've done consulting work for different manufacturers and OEM suppliers, but not currently. M4C's disclosure policy doesn't seem to cover me but we do have advertisers, although I don't handle that side of things and in general I do not know who is paying us at any given time.

Tried that a long time ago, but never could get the hang of it. Might be something to readdress.

I pretty much run a MEUSOC clone with a single side safety.

    I use a 20lb main and 17lb recoil though...
