    1. Which operating system do you prefer in a carbine with 16" barrel?

The KAC proprietary mid-length (intermediate). If that didn't exist, just regular old mid-length.

    2. What do you think is the ideal length of rail? Or what length of rail do you prefer?

13" seems optimal for a 16" barrel. Just enough rail to put your support hand as far forward as you want, but not too much so that it makes your carbine look ridiculous. There is such a thing as too much rail on some of these custom builds I've seen.

    3. If you had a choice between an FSB upper or flip sights which would you prefer. Taking into account that the FSB is the most secure and solid of the two.

If running an ideal 13" rail I'd prefer to have flip-up sights. They'd be regulated to back-up status anyway, so as long as my gas block is pinned in place I have confidence in a good set of quality BUIS.

KAC seems to have gotten everything right with SR-15E3 MOD1, so if it's anything close to that we're golden.

    1. Mid-length with H buffer flatter shooting.

    2. 10"-12". I'm not a large person and the extra weight/rail space isn't needed.

    3. I like the FSB because most companies' front sights have a strange sight picture.

    I prefer Mid-Length.
    9" Rail if I use a rail.
I prefer to have the fixed A2 FSB.

    16" midlength

Any quality FF handguard that allows me to get my hand somewhere around the midlength gas block.

I prefer a fixed front sight either FSB or DD, but Im ok with quality flips.

I was once a pinned FSB or death guy. I do like the simplistic ruggedness but by shaving the FSB or using a well attached gasblock it does open up a lot of hanguard options. My 2 rifles have vtac alpha and c4 mid cut out rails. I like the c4s attachment better and built in QDs but I prefer the feel of the vtac. Ill probably sell the c4 but Im not sure if Ill buy another vtac or see what this new generation of FF handguards has to offer

    Midlength

Depends on optic. I'd say flip up as it can cover all bases (fab bolted on rail if user desires) and pretty much everyone is/should be running an optic so it's backup anyway.

12-14" FF. Urx3 is my favorite.
