    How much water?

I tried to search but didn't find what I was looking for. I live in Texas where we seem to go from drought to drought. I have months of calories in the cabinet based on our day to day eating habits but can't quite figure out how much water to stow away. I live near a creek but assume if would shit filled and dirty if all of a sudden the whole town was without water. What do you guys think?

Ok. I guess what I'm asking is what most guys think is necessary apart from filtration.

If its summer and you're in Texas or any sunbelt state plan on 1.5gal per person. You will be working and it's hot and probably no AC.

Lived in Gulfport during Hurricane Katrina. Worked all day helping out and probably used 4 gallons per day. I'm talking about some serious shit comes down the pipe nation wide. My plan is to open the windows for ventilation. Shit in a deep hole in the back yard, and stay inside for several months. YMMV. How much water "hypothetically" if you stored water is enough?

Unless you're only preparing for a short duration catastrophe, you can never store enough. Period. You have to have a way to renew it.

Read up on storage methods. Mayflower pilgrims brought beer to drink because water would go bad on those long voyages.

Some well packaged lime juice might be handy to, keep your gums healthy. Can add a bit to the water to cover any off taste from storage.
