Yeah, it's a tabbed feature, and it works fine.
There's a stickied thread regarding the recent work on the website at the very top of the page, with the misleading phrase "Site maintenance" included in the title.
Not for nothing, but the fact that this wasn't posted in it indicates it's not the SITE'S search function that's problematic. Happens to all of us.

Google is now the default search now and Advanced Search is still there too.
