Mr. Bell-How much did it turn out round trip to get that front sight installed?
I believe the gold dot FS is now 120. Not sure if they will charge you labor since the cut is already there (probably won't from my readings on the Wilson board). Throw on shipping, and you'll probably be a hair under 200 (for the slide).

Sorry if I spoke out of turn.

3050 Rounds. 50 Rounds Gold Saber, 100 Rounds Geco, 50 Rounds Wilson 200 grain

Broke the 3000 round mark today!

When I got to the range, I switched out the recoil spring for one of the new flat-springs. Interestingly, it appears to be a good deal shorter than a standard spring. In the following picture the spring in the bag is a new 17 pound spring, the spring in the middle is the new flat spring and the spring with the guide rod attached is the ~3000 round old factory 17 pound spring.

Here is a picture of the new guide rod. Notice that it is beveled (a nice touch). Also, at the base of the rod it steps down. This made installing the Shok-buff more difficult (just a bit) but it is held solidly in place.

Anyway, after it was installed I started some dot drills. It felt no different than the factory spring (which, I suppose it shouldn't). About 3 mags in I had a failure to feed with a FMJ 230 grain Geco on the last round with mag #1. This was while doing transitions so I don't think it had anything to do with grip, etc. I made note and moved on. I ran a total of 100 rounds of GECO, 50 Rounds of Wilson lead 200 grain and 50 rounds of Golden Saber without further incident. I basically chalked it up to either (1) settling in of the new spring/buffer, (2) El-cheapo Geco ammo or (3) possibly mag #1 is getting tired. Either way, it didn't crop up again.

I ran (50) rounds doing Dot drills, (50) rounds doing FAST drills, (50) Rounds doing Hackathorn drills and (50) rounds doing my "Ruby" drill which is 2 into a paper plate, transition 2 in another paper plate 5 foot away, reload and one shot. Basically, it is a 5 round drill which gets in a fast draw, a follow up shot, a transition to a second target, a follow up shot, a slide lock reload and another shot. Lots of good stuff for 5 rounds.

Dot drills are interesting, I can shoot them clean (except support hand 5, just can't do it!) with my Wilson every time. I tried to follow it up with my G19 and while I did decent work, it was nothing like the CQB. That trigger!! Oh so sweet.

    3350 Rounds. 100 rounds 200gr WC HAP, 100 Rounds Monarch 230, 100 Rounds Geco

    300 more rounds down range.

I have been busy the last few weeks so I haven't been able to make note of my shooting. I shot 100 rounds 200gr WC HAP, 100 Rounds Monarch 230, and 100 Rounds Geco 230 grain. All functioned perfectly.

Today I shot 50 rounds of FAST drills (I was ok today, a few low 5 second runs) and 50 Rounds of Hackathorn drills using the WC 200 Grain HAP hollow point rounds put out by Wilson Combat. This stuff was incredibly smooth. Apparently WC knows a little something about making ammo too. Although my carry round is 230 grain Golden Saber I may order some more of this stuff for carry. It was extremely slick--it almost felt like I was racking an empty slide--no resistance at all. I was able to return splits during the FAST drill in the low .2 range which is about as good as I get (I occasionally get in the teens and exactly one .09!! but that is hyper rare for me).

I have noticed something about "rapid fire" in .45 vs 9mm. I have a 9mm Springfield Range officer, and it is extremely smooth, (the .09 split I got was with it, for example). I have noticed that the sight picture is more disturbed with the .45, but the accuracy and speed really isn't). It is hard to explain. I remember doing figure eights with the front sights in a Larry Vickers class, the point being that people worry a bit too much about precise sight picture, etc. I think this is especially true during rapid fire. You need to keep control of the weapon, but basically pull the trigger as fast as you can--especially if your target is something as big as a paper plate at 21 feet.

The gold bead sight is fantastic. I ran some shooting on the move drills in the open light and the gold was brighter than FO. I think the gold bead will a lot more durable and longer lived than tritium or fo.

Another interesting thing to note. My Springfield does not have a mag funnel and my reloads absolutely show it. When everything goes smoothly, there isn't much difference. But when things go wrong, the standard mag well sucks. On average the mag well haves about .2 seconds. But when I would miss hitting the mag well just right it would cost two and three times that much. I am seriously considering ordering a mag funnel from Wilson to match up my 9mm.

Ruby is starting to develop some sexy holster wear from the hard kydex holster...

You should sign up for the Hackathorn pistol class that I'm hosting and use that gun in the class. Maybe pass it around to any non believers to show what they've been missing.

If you have to put a compensator on a 9mm, maybe you should buy panties instead of briefs - Ken Hackathorn via Facebook live

I bet you let Shane touch it.

That's always fun. Some people just don't get it. Some just get this smile and look like "Fuuuuuu...." and you know they're ruined!

Heck no. Shane can make H&K's jam. I believe he was instrumental in the Gen4 Glock redesign.

Amen! Nothing quite as slow as missing a reload on a 1911 without a magwell. Wilson did a great job on their Mag well.

    Wilson compared to a Heinie:

You can see the scuff marks on the back the Heinie where I missed and hit the msh. Not as big of a deal with the wilson.
