The vast majority of people are completely ****ing stupid. The "prepper/gun community" is not immune from this phenomenon, in fact it attracts them. These window lickers do not possess the faintest notion of OPSEC. Then there is the issue of people wanting to brag, and or show off what they have and or do. “Have everybody look at me”.
