Ive been looking hard at this same gun as well. Im not a big 1911 fan but it just seems like one of those guns that shoukd br in the safe. About the only thing I can see I'd want to do is a flat blade trigger. My buddy has one that I was able to shoot and it felt almost as nice as another buddys lower end wilson combat. What mags do yall recommend to run reliably? Mine would be nothing more than range toy as well, I like my tupperware guns for carry.

I have 5 each of Wilson 47D & Chip Mc Power Mags & they all work flawlessly in my RO & TRP.
    Results may vary.

For what it's worth I shot my RO today for the first time. My first impressions of it are very positive. I only put 100 rounds through it today, but I didn't encounter a single feed or ejection problem. It feels good in my hands, trigger pull is smooth, and it's deadly accurate right out of the box. The only negative observation I have is that the mags which came with it are a bit tight, nothing that can't be fix though. I say for the price this gun is well worth the investment.

I've been sort of marginally interested in one of these for a while now. I hear that the front sights come loose on occasion. Has anyone had/seen that happen?

There is no way that the factory front sight could come off, it is pinned in place. I picked mine up for $799 on sale a few months ago, couldn't be happier with it.

My friend's RO had some sharp edges he had to round, but otherwise has given him no problems. Kind of reminds me of Springfield's Trophy Match without some of it's features.

Thought I should put in a followup. I did end up with a Range Officer and I'm warming up to it. It's been awful cold in my neck of the woods, so I haven't had a chance to shoot it very much yet. My only complaint at this point is like another poster mentioned the thumb safety is a bit sharp, but beyond that I suppose I can't complain about the build quality. I want to thank everyone for their input on this pistol and I hope it serves me well.

I've got about 2000 rounds through mine. I added an SA slim magwell, Harrison front and rear, and gunner grips and 10-8 flat trigger. First 200 rounds, I had 3 or 4 failures to feed, and figured mine doesn't like cmc 8 rd power mags. Since then, I haven't had a hiccup with Wilson etm's or the stock Springfield mags.

Friend of mine has an RO and while I haven't shot it yet it appears to be put together pretty well at it's price point.
