Aimpoint T1 plus g33 magnifier giving skewed dot

Read a bunch of posts where others are running this combo and have no issues. I am having an issue where my dot goes to a diagonal line when I flip the magnifier down. It does not matter if running the standard mount or the tall mount with the g33. I have a LT660 on the T1 and either mount for the g33 doesn't seem to quite center it on the T1. If I move my head around and get the t1 dot almost to any edge of the g33 the dot becomes sharp again. Does not matter if the T1 is on low or high power, just a line instead of a dot. Is there an issue with the g33 or an issue with this combo. I went with the g33 because I liked the STS mount instead of the aim point quick disconnect.

Not sure if it is a parallax issue or what, maybe I need to space them a little further apart?

    Any ideas? Thanks,

Edit: Just pulled the g33 off my LE6920 with the T1 and put it on my RRA with a XPS2-0. Seems to have the same issue, but the center dot is smaller on the eotech and does not skew as bad. Guess the eotech is 2MOA and my T1 must be 4MOA.

You do not want to hear this but it is time to go see the eye doc. This is a classic problem with RD sights. Sounds like you are starting to have Astigmatisms. Easily correctable, enjoy your old age.

"astigmatism" is the knee-jerk response to dot abnormalities on an RDS, but I doubt that that's the case here. You'd have focus abnormalities with and without the magnifier. More likely its a lens abnormality, maybe in the optical coating. I'd bet on the magnifier, especially if it happens with more than one RDS. I'd call Eotech.

Dots are weird. I've encountered all sorts of anomalies, most go away by blinking, or with the passing of a day. I suspect it has more to do with our eyes than the dot, but whatever the case, I've had dots that were intolerable and had to be done away with. I had a 4MOA H1 not too long ago that appeared diagonal sometimes, especially under magnification (4MOA generally sucks under magnification anyway). I traded it to a friend, who reports no issues with the dot appearing diagonal. He does not use it with a magnifier.

In summary, I have nothing to offer, except sympathy.

Just had eyes checked, 20/20 and just a very very slight astigmatism. Doc said it would be a waste of money for glasses. I refuse to get old! I'll get my wife and BNL to look through it to verify if they see the same thing first.

If I rotate the sight, the line changes or sort of rotates with it. At times it looks like 3 dots close together. As soon as I move my head and get the dot close to the dark edge, it comes back sharp.

The 65MOA circle on the xps2 is nice and sharp.

    Guess I will call eotech.

I was hoping I was going to get a "ya gotta mount them X apart to make them work" answer.

    Thanks

The mounting distance does nothing. The 3X magnifies everything, the RDS, the dot, your target, everything.

What does the center dot look like without the 3X? is it sharp? If not sharp, flip up your rear sight and look at the dot through the rear sight. Is it sharp now?

Yep, it is sharp without the rear peep helping. Don't have a BUIS on this rig. Just electronics.

Well the wife was no help, before I even magnified it she said it looks like an out of focus spider with 5 legs!

Didn't even bother flipping the magnifier down.

Now check your other eye without the peep. If it's still sharp it is the 3X.

I have an Aimpoint 3x and Aimpoint dots always look like slashes to me. It's one of the many reasons I'm back to preferring EOTechs again. EOTechs always look crisp and clear to me using either Aimpoint or EOTech brand magnifiers.

Admittedly I have a slight amount of astigmatism (still 20/20 or slightly better), however I always see the Aimpoint as a slash, and regardless of magnifier or model, EOTechs look as they're supposed to. I think it's an Aimpoint thing, that is manifested in certain eyes.
