Somebody mentioned the Norinco earlier. They are great pistols. Cosmetically somewhat rough, but the two I have will run anything thru them. And they are made of all forged parts. Here is one I thought seriously about calling the guy about, but can't really justify it right now. http://www.carolinashootersclub.com/...orinco-1911-45
Anyone mention SHOOTERS ARMS Elite 1911?
I have handled my friends, and it shoots real well. no mals, tight specs, no problems.
My Rock Island Armory 1911 is starting to lose it's accuracy with loads that shot well at 25 meters when I first bought the pistol. I measured the I.D. and O.D. of the barrel bushing, then measured the inside of the slide and outside of the barrel where the bushing makes contact. The tolerances on the bushing have loosened up quite a bit and I suspect that is what is causing accuracy to drop off.
The pistol will still digest every type of ammunition I shoot out of it, including reloads that will not function in other pistols. It's time to order a $24 oversize bushing from Brownell's and fit it to the slide and barrel. I view this as a normal wear and tear item.
For a budget 1911, I still recommend the RIA 1911 in 9mm.

Im buying a Rock Island/Armscor. No nonsense warranty, and just as American as a Springfield LOL ;-)

I handled an RIA today, and for $350-400. The internals looked similar to a Springfield Mil Spec that my friend had on hand. I liked it. If I was looking for a beater, I might pic one up. Just because.
We miss you, AC.
