There is a difference between modifying as you have the means and modifying because shit is broken.

Their 1911s leave a lot to be desired, I'd rather have a RIA.

Another vote for the (Armscor) Rock Island.
Get the Tactical variant and not the GI variant.

That's not something that one can wild ass speculate about online though. It actually takes buying a gun in the real world and shooting real ammo through it.

Tell me about your experiences running a 1911 hard. I shoot mine USPSA, IDPA, 3 gun and Steel Challenge. In El Paso I will shoot it until it is too hot to hold all summer. It isn't that difficult it 100+ degree heat.

Good for you, nobody asked. I never went off about "my experience." I simply pointed something out - chill.

that could be said about all "budget" 1911's, I was suggesting off of price alone.

Yeah, the SA and Colt will have a forged frame, not cast like the RIA.

    If that matters to you.

I personally don't care about a 1911 having a cast frame. My 1911 has a cast frame and I've never seen a cast frame wear out. Most of the semi-custom shops have sold 1911s with cast frames as well. Les Baer still does.
