The phase 5 kit is good stuff.. I have had no problems with mine.. I'm running standard carbine buffers as well.. Cheers..
Ain't no pockets on a shroud..
Spikes is the only manufacturer who makes a pistol tube out of 7075 that comes with dry-film lube. Phase 5 is 6061.
I bought the Spikes; it came with the buffer and spring. Also has a quick detach point in the end of it.

I use a regular rifle buffer tube because I like the extra length. The best way to secure it is with a gusset/clamp made by ACE stock company.

I have an amazon pistol tube. It works, brace sits about half way down, I sort of want the kak, but don't know if it'll be long enough
That's good to know. Wondering what that info was.Originally Posted by ^Rb

You'd gain some length by changing to the KAK but you lose the castle nut.
Didn't know the details regarding the Spikes, but got one for my 10.5 inch pistol. Works phenominally well with the SB-15, which is a very snug and secure fit.
Voodoo Man, I believe some end plates w/QD will work with the KAK tube so you would have an attachment point. I can't recall which brands will or won't work so double check that before ordering. I did see a thread with pictures that showed one brand did not have enough clearance while another did.
So been doing a little thinking (which normally means I'm about to go sideways and custom fab/modify something). The more I think about it, the more I like the KAK tube.
The benefit of the castle nut is being a jam nut. Without it we look at alternative methods of locking the tube. Using a KAK, short of turning down threads making an additional inch of real estate to use a castle nut (hint hint, are you listening KAK?), would staking the end plate to the KAK shoulder be of help or not? I was wondering about notching the front shoulder of the KAK at one or two points then staking the end plate at those notches. Assuming the KAK could get torqued close enough to 38-42ftlbs, the stakes ought to help, right?
Or perhaps a star washer between the KAK & end plate? Or is that pretty low rent?
I'm just throwing spaghetti at the wall.
