How much should I pay for a decent M1D? I've seen anywhere from 3000-5000. I'm a little concerned about the authenticity. I'd like to get a good one from the 50s, doesn't need to be a WWII variant.

1953 Springfield Garand M1 30-06
This one shoots as well as it looks. Better then I'm capable of.

“Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street building has been renamed, every date has been altered. And the process is continuing day by day and minute by minute. History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Party is always right.” ― George Orwell, 1984
Nice rifles guys! My humble contribution.

I miss the M-14.
The sights on each Garand are a law unto themselves. Mine which is a 42 Springfield was exactly two clicks up from mechanical bottom to put it dead on at 100 and one more for two and three more for three. Easy to remember 2-3-6. Dont know where futher out as I cant see that far.
My sons which is a last year of production springfield took eleven clicks up from bottom to get it on at 100.
The Greek ammo really is non corrosive too. Good stuff. Not quite as accurate as some old Tiwanese stuff I have but it is corrosive.
