Sic semper tyrannis.
I had PRK as well, it is for sure a little rough for a few days.
I use this ar for hogs mostly at 50-125 yds. I will try the 2MOA micro and see how it goes. The main reason I went with the xps in the first place was the ring, which I find more of a distraction at distance anyways.
I really don't feel like it was a short at this point. I spent all day in 38 degree pouring rain and the optic was fine. Although as predicting I found myself checking it all the time. I need to find a shop in DFW though that has the micro so I can actually look through one before I buy.
I like the EXPS line and haven't kept it on long enough for auto shutoff to kick in. Not too worried about since I won't be hunting with it or anticipate ever being in a sustained firefight lasting longer than 8 hours on home turf. However, i wouldn't mind Eotech offering a way to turn off the feature, or at least incorporate some type of countdown timer at the bottom of the display that lets you know how much time is remaining before it shuts off.

Whether battery issues or auto-shutoff, the eotechs fail to perform when needed. Go with Aimpoint.

Anything built by man will eventually fail.
Anything built with profit in mind will fail sooner.
Anything that relies on electrical power will fail even sooner and with less predictability.
Personally, I prefer a more "conventional" aiming device, such as a low-powered variable, that does not need to be illuminated to be effective.
