yes... Just hit any button once and it resets the 8/4 hr auto shutoff, you do not need to turn off then turn it back on.

If it was a short from firing, then I absolutely will want to move to a different RDS, I'm going to be out in the freezing rain with this setup again all day tomorrow. We will see how it works.
Oh, well in that case it may very well have been the auto shut-off, assuming you were out there for about 8 hours when it happened. The battery issue is a known problem with the non E/XPS models.

Have you sent yours back to them?

FWIW, I also had PRK (i.e. LASIK for real men who can take the pain) last year. I've had no problems with the dot in the T1 on my SCAR 16S or the Comp M4 on my 17S.
I had PRK as well, it is for sure a little rough for a few days.

I use this ar for hogs mostly at 50-125 yds. I will try the 2MOA micro and see how it goes. The main reason I went with the xps in the first place was the ring, which I find more of a distraction at distance anyways.

I really don't feel like it was a short at this point. I spent all day in 38 degree pouring rain and the optic was fine. Although as predicting I found myself checking it all the time. I need to find a shop in DFW though that has the micro so I can actually look through one before I buy.

The reticle is the only thing EOTech has over Aimpoint. Unless you love the EOTech reticle (like me), an Aimpoint will probably be better.

I like the EXPS line and haven't kept it on long enough for auto shutoff to kick in. Not too worried about since I won't be hunting with it or anticipate ever being in a sustained firefight lasting longer than 8 hours on home turf. However, i wouldn't mind Eotech offering a way to turn off the feature, or at least incorporate some type of countdown timer at the bottom of the display that lets you know how much time is remaining before it shuts off.

Whether battery issues or auto-shutoff, the eotechs fail to perform when needed. Go with Aimpoint.

Yeah, that's why lots of working professionals and tier one guys run EOTechs.

Speaking only about SOF. I wouldn't read too much into that considering their SOPMOD kits come with Eotechs.

I've seen plenty of "working professionals" while I was in AFG running Aimpoints and Elcans.

Yeah, me too. Been globetrotting a few years myself. Still, i know plenty of guys who have no problems running EOTechs.

Anything built by man will eventually fail.
Anything built with profit in mind will fail sooner.
Anything that relies on electrical power will fail even sooner and with less predictability.

Personally, I prefer a more "conventional" aiming device, such as a low-powered variable, that does not need to be illuminated to be effective.
