As mentioned before, run what you brung for a while. You may decide that you're tired of playing after a bit. When I play, I use what I would use around the house or out and about to include a shirt that covers my belt. Good luck at the matches.

You will figure out what you need, don't need, what works, and what doesn't, just by going and doing them and gaining experience.

Ok, I think rifle is good to go. I've been stuffing my mags in my pockets, whats a decent starter belt for holsters, carriers? Do I need the serpa holsters that lock my glock or kydex good enough?

CR Speed or Safariland ELS systems are what most people use in reference to belts. Your kydex holster may be ok but I would suggest tightening down the retention if you can as some 3 gun matches will have you crawling out of cars, negotiating obstacles etc. and if a gun hits the deck you're going home.

Ready Tactical makes good mag carriers and holsters. I wouldn't worry too much about rifle mag carriers at first as the back pocket will usually do to get you started. CPWSA is a great source. Probably your biggest investment aside from guns will be whatever shotgun loading system you adopt. The two most common are weak hand or Twins (load two or quad load). The shotgun carriers are expensive and unfortunately difficult to replicate.

    Good luck.

I like Kydex for pistol and Mags and prefer the offerings from Ready Tactical and KytexGear for rifle and pistol. This is my set up for classes, matches, etc. I consider it to be a fairly slick set up which also conceals very well and is easy to add/subtract from my belt. Obviously a high quality belt is required when mounting gear to it. I'm experimenting now with a Battle Belt set up from HSGI, but still find myself coming back to my slick set up.

So if my pistol falls out then I'm DQ? I rather be safe then sorry and go with a serpa. I dont have a kydex holster but that is what I want. I'm really new to this so I have to ask, are all kydex created equal?

Not a fan of the Serpa....Safariland ALS is a safew retention system.

All Kydex is not created equal. The high quality makers have excellent passive retention via the molding.

    Don't get a Serpa.

If guns fell out of holsters that easy, no Kydex holster would still be in business.

BelievE me, I don't either. Are there guys running kydex in 3gun? Y'all got me worried about getting DQ for something so simple. I think I like that safariland als thing, but I'll have to watch YouTube see how it actually works. From what I read, it twist to unlock the retension? No button to press to release.
