Anyone hear about this?
I saw that earlier today. I'm very interested to find out more. There should be more info coming soon as SHOT is almost here.

"If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck." ~ Colonel Jeff Cooper
"We are all born ignorant, but one must work hard to remain stupid." ~ Benjamin Franklin
Price? Anyone care to take a guess?
I'll say ... $3,000.
Interesting.
I can get a NF 2.5x10x24 on the market for $1200-1800 @ 17 ozs & 9.9" add a reliable RDS @1.5 ozs. for about $200-400 for CQB have a net wt of 18.5-19 ozs. w/ variable capability.
Vs. $3,000.00 @ 24 ozs. w/ only 1x 3x 9x .....
I'll pass on that one.
Amen brother....that particular primary/secondary optic setup for a few years now has been my "jack of all trades" optic solution over all the rather dissappointing 1-8x types.
If I couldn't have a nxsc 2.5-10x24 w/ T-1......a March Tactical 1-10x would for sure get my coin.
On the plus side....Elcan's look really cool on a rifle
You forget the mount weight is included on the Elcan but not with traditional scopes which obviously makes a big difference. The advantage of the Elcan would be the quickness and ease with which you can go from 1 to 3 to 9. After you factor in mounts, RMR & NXS you're easily at $2,500. I'm sure many share your opinion, I'm not even sure what way I'll end up going (looking to set up my SCAR 17s), but I think it's a good thing to have more options and competition which pushes other companies to innovate as well.
You think you can turn a magnification ring all the while staying down in the glass faster than you can simply cant your rifle slightly to the side and bring up your target with a T-1 dot.
My monies on it's faster, easier, and more natural feeling to simply transition from the primary magnified optic to the secondary optic without ever removing your lead/support hand as if you would while manipulating a mag ring.
Just my 2cents.
Perhaps, but the Elcan is sure as hell a lot quicker than a traditional LPV, and you could always throw an offset RMR on a gun with an Elcan if you really wanted to. I think an Elcan (on paper at least) could serve as a better dual role optic, having a 1x primary on top of the gun vs. offset has obvious advantages as long as you're good with the BDC. Of course an offset on something like ah nightforce would serve a DMR/SPR set up well.
I just bought a NEW unmounted on weapon ever NF 2.5x10x24 w/ NP-R2 (17 ozs.) on SH for $1,375.00 a Docter Optic ll Plus (1.5 ozs.) for $200.00 on AR15 & a NF 1.175" Unimount 4.6 ozs. for on ebay $175.00=$1,750 vs. $3,000+ That's a NO BRAINER. I'll take the NF glass over the Elcan Specter too any day & every day. It does't mean the Elcan is not good, know your members on the board w/ knowledge & products is what it means.
So I'm at $1,750.00 only approx. $750.00 off your call out of $2,500.00 but what the heck it's only money right ?
Here's the thread of the purchase below. BTW, I didn't take the mount because it's heavier comparatively to other's even though it was a good price. Tells you something if your paying attention.

I will take the variable w/ Cat tail any day, every day w/ no in between or set limitations on MagX over the other every time. The bottom line is this: I have less money invested, better glass w/ more RET choices, a lower & proven mount, more utility w/ different platforms. Full of Win X10. But you do your thing no worries.
