    Aftermarket trigger

Now, I'm fairly certain what I am gonna hear, but I was curious as to peoples views on a couple aftermarket FCGs. I have played with the SSA a bit, dry fired an Alexander Arms Tactical Blade a few times and the Timney in a few rifles, plus several others.
The most impressive to me was the AA, but there are so few reviews on it, concerning long term hard use reliability, which is the only thing holding me back, really.
From what I understand, the SSA is considered my many the be all and end all of aftermarket combat-ready triggers, and I like it a lot, but there was something about that glass-rod, forward-set narrow shoe I am all about, particularly since I'm so used to Single stage, from my LMT FCG.
Any and all information is appreciated regarding any trigger, not just the ones mentioned.

Well Ill start with I have SSAs in all my guns and have been very happy. I feel it would be very difficult to beat that trigger, especially for a hard use rifle.
Now at first I used only mil-spec single stage triggers

Now, after a carbine class with LAV (field marksmanship or practical precision, some shit like that) it was recommended that we upgrade to a giessele ssa from our junky mil-specs. I took the advice to try it out. It definitely has made taking longer shots easier. Like you said, you know what you will hear, If you went with a Giessele I dont think you would be disappointed. As for the others I cannot truly say.

    Good luck to you.

You didn't compare apples with apples at all. Certain Geissele trigger models will certainly woo you like the glass rod breaking trigger you noted to above.

The SSA breaks like a carrot...whereas the SD-E, and SSA-E break like a candy cane. Even better you have the Hi Speed that breaks like an icicle. The S3G, and SD-3G arguably have the sweetest feeling break...I find it to be just like clicking a mouse.

Honestly I wouldn't waste a dime on triggers, if it wasn't made by GA, or ALG.

On a duty gun I avoid a Timney only for the little set screws in the bottom you use to lock it into place. I do my best to avoid putting anything in a lower that has small screws and/or other parts that may work loose.

For a single stage as far as Trigger feel goes though, I do like Timneys. I also like the feel of Chip Mccormicks and a well adjusted JARD. Ive run and installed all of those but never in a duty gun.

For a two stage, the RRA NM trigger can be fantastic and it can be average depending on the luck of the draw.

Geissele triggers of all kinds are great I'm sure, though I have only dealt with the SSA and SDC. My current patrol rifle wears an SDC because I like a flat trigger face, but I would run an SSA if I didn't.

I have no knowledge of the AA you are talking about.

In y'all's opinions, would the other Geissele triggers hold up to running as hard as the SSA?
Also, I don't mind the less than glass rod break, it just floored me on the AA.

I have the SSA-E in my AR and love it. For me it is a perfect trigger.

Do you have experience with the SSA? I ask because I am trying to decide between the SSA and the SSA-E and don't have a place to try one out.

I run the SSA-E and have felt the SSA. The SSA is a good trigger that seemed to me to be identical in travel distance and travel weight, at least I couldn't really tell the difference. Where I could tell the difference was in the break. The SSA-E was more "crisp" and seemed to take less pressure to break at the "wall". As far as single stage triggers go I have had very good service from a CMC 4.5lb curved trigger, very smooth, predictable and clean breaking.

I have never been partial to adjustable triggers, them little screws and locktite dont inspire any confidence.

I have a QMS trigger that is also a great bang for the buck. I switched out the springs to JP yellows and modified the hammer to mimic the "speed hammer" from JP. Never fails to fire.
