    Pro Series M&P?

I was browsing the S&W website and noticed they have an M&P9 (and .40) under the "Pro Series" line. The Pro Series guns have different SKUs 178035 for the Pro and 209001 the standard M&P9, for instance. My understanding is the Pro series guns use Performance Center parts and may get a little extra QC on the assembly line. Does anyone know what upgrades the Pro Series M&P9 has to justify the extra $110 added to the MSRP? Is it just PC parts or do the check the tolerances, fluff and buff, or perform extra checks for example?

To add confusion there's another SKU, 309301 for the LE marked M&P9 which is in the http://www.smith-wesson.com/wcsstore...og_2013_LR.pdf but not the website. Do the LE/MIL guns get any extra QC or fitting before going out the door? Finally, has S&W made all of the changes to the M&P line that it was planning for the foreseeable future?

According to legend, the Pro guns do get a little extra attention and hand-fitting. All I've actually seen different is that the Pro guns do come with a visibly different sear which does result in a 'better' trigger (less creep and definitely less over-travel). Personally, I prefer the 'standard' guns with Apex kits over any Pro I've every had/shot. The Pro's don't address the main problem of gritty triggers in the M&P, the striker block, the Apex kits do.

The reason for the different SKUs is that LE Guns come with 3 mags (and are priced a little more aggressively), while guns for the commoners come with 2.

I don't kow how true it is but the source is considered reliable. Check post #6 regarding QC on S&W LE guns.

My mom just bought one of these. The extras it comes with:

    Night sights
    4.5lb trigger
That more aggressive backstrap that comes on the CORE models.
It says "Pro Series" on the slide.

IMO it is worth the money. I'm the one who convinced her to go that route rather than the regular. She shot a dozen different guns and went with teh M&P, then ended up with the Pro.

For the longest time, the PRO's got the PC sear and the regular M&P's got the standard one. This changed awhile ago and now all M&P's get the PC sear (as far as I know). There is not additional QC done to these pistol to my knowledge (I could be wrong).

The LE guns get more rounds fired through them, ALWAYS get the most up to date mods/parts and do get extra QC/QA.

S&W has been putting more and more money into this gun and consider it the best one they have ever produced. Does this mean they are done? Don't know for sure, but pretty much every issue has been addressed.

If you are eligible for the first responders program ALWAYS go with the LE guns.

Pretty much sums it up. I bought a S&P40 Pro yesterday at a gun show in Dallas. The price difference at the gun show was $90 to $100 over the standard. The night sights are worth probably $75 of that. The trigger does feel better then the standard, but if you are going to install the Apex trigger, probably not worth the difference. I do like the Pro grips over the standard.

I agree with Grant. I do not believe the pro is worth the cost if you are allowed to change the trigger and sights out. They are OK stock but not something to be desired. Aftermarket trigger and sights are far superior. Now if you aren't going to change a thing or not allowed to the the Pro might be worth it.

Also Grant I will be talking you soon about a LE MP9 FS and a shield or a MP9C.

Thanks for the replies and advice. I would most likely be installing Apex parts and Ameriglo Pro Glos so I'll go with a the standard LE model.

I just picked up one of Grant's LE M&P's in 9mm. Fired case envelope was dated 9-20-13. Not too old.
Had him add the Trijicon HD Orange night sights and polish in the internals before he shipped it out.

If I agreed with you, we'd both be wrong.

The last thing I want to do is hurt you, but it's still on my list.
